Insurance Solutions is an integrated business group that includes New York Life’s main protection solutions sold via our New York Life Agents. This group includes the Life Insurance, Long Term Care Insurance, Disability Income Solutions, and Business Solutions products.


The Data & Analytics team supports multiple lines of business through insightful reporting and analytics, production application support, and IT operations. We partner with and support each area (claims, actuarial, underwriting, sales, finance/accounting, etc.), leveraging data to drive business strategy, decision making, and support of our distribution efforts.


As a member of the Data & Analytics team, you will be involved in a wide range of activities to support the team’s consistent high-quality data solutions delivery. The daily activities can range from analyzing data and testing new development to working with business partners to ensure our solutions meet their needs.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Create documentation for new development efforts when needed such as Source to Target Mapping, Data Dictionaries, Procedural Documents, etc.
  • Organize and facilitate exploratory discussions with business and technical users regarding new reporting & data solutions.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with business users to ensure continued alignment of solutions with business priorities and initiatives. Help to guide the business users in cases where there is not a clear understanding of the data solution needed.
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams as a representative of the Data & Analytics team to gather technical requirements, coordinate with internal developers, and facilitate and/or participate in QA & UAT Testing.
  • Support development team to ensure key deliverables are met in a timely manner.
  • Produce ad-hoc data exports and perform data analysis as needed.
  • Work with developers to interpret business requirements and test data solutions as needed.
  • Provide input on backlog prioritization and grooming as needed.
  • Serve as an SME on data solutions to production support or end users as needed.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Information Systems, or similar analytical background
  • 3-5 years’ work experience; 2+ years’ experience in a related technical or analyst role
  • High level of curiosity and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Passionate about using data to solve problems
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and/or reporting software
  • Working knowledge of SQL and ability to write basic queries
  • Strong excel and spreadsheet skills; understands formulas/calcs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate effectively
  • Experienced at interacting with clients/users at all levels
  • Ability to function independently with limited direction
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Experience in insurance or financial services is a plus
  • Knowledge of SDLC is a plus

Salary range: $70,000-$105,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt
