Medical Underwriting Support Representative
Location Designation: Hybrid - 3 days per week

Role Overview:
The Medical Underwriting Support Representative will review and process Life and Disability insurance applications. Candidates should possess strong data entry skills with a background in the Insurance or Medical field and will perform a variety of data entry and verification duties. They will also maintain records or source documents for data input, ensuring the accuracy and appropriateness of both input and output of data.
What You'll Do:
- Process Life and Disability applications for Medical Underwriting
- Screen applications for completeness and send appropriate correspondence
- Key applicant information with accuracy and efficiency
- Review medical history and approve coverage based on authority limits
- Research application status and respond appropriately to internal partners
- Process specific clients for special, priority handling
- Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure
- Projects, as assigned; including research, reports, client transitions, reworks, audits
- Adaptability to frequent procedural changes with a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Actively participate in projects that support the growth of the medical underwriting team
- Continual commitment for personal and professional development to include classroom, self-study and on the job training
- Freethinker who has ability to step back from routine processes and recognize opportunities for improvement and courage to pursue them with team leadership
- Actively recognize abnormalities in systems and processes and raises them to management team for resolution
- Work in a team environment and self-manages own queue within the company time, accuracy and quality standards
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent business experience
- High school diploma, or GED from an accredited school required
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Prior experience in group insurance including life, accident, or disability a plus
- Knowledge in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and medical conditions, a plus
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with team focus
- Ability to manage and maintain quality performance within department standards
- Strong attention to detail and computer skills
Pay Transparency
Salary range: $40,000-$50,000
Overtime eligible: Nonexempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Sales bonus eligible: No
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
