The ideal team member will work closely with the Development, Engineering and Operations teams as a joint effort working on key deliverables ensuring production scalability and stability across New York Life. In addition, this role will also help develop and enhance best practices, ensure the platform can effectively meet performance & SLA requirements while supporting capacity planning / sizing exercises and new initiatives.

 

Role expectations:

  • Person will be responsible to On-Prem/Cloud Application DBA work in non- production and Production environments.
  • Ability to conduct in-depth research with curiosity and work through complex problems successfully and reach workable solutions.
  • Ability to work in ambiguous situations; take a high-level assignment and work the detail to produce a successful solution.
  • Leads cross functional teams to develop and implement best practices to solve application performance issues rapidly
  • Prior experience in Large scale and high performance oriented distributed system is must.
  • Working closely with the various teams -Platform, data science, database, network, BI and application teams to make sure that all the big data applications are highly available and performing as expected
  • Perform Tuning and Increase Operational efficiency on a continuous basis
  • Monitor health of the platforms and Generate Performance Reports and Monitor and provide continuous improvements

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience as Data Engineer, in maintaining, optimization, issue resolution and supporting Business users and Batch with more
  • Recent experience in building/configuring AWS Data Pipeline with (DMS/S3/Glue/Python/Redshift/Tableau)
  • Expertise in RDS (Oracle/SQL Server) databases and Non-Relational databases such as (Redshift/Snowflake).
  • provide support for - aggregation, lookup & fact table creation criteria's and performance tuning of Large Datawarehouse databases/Applications.
  • Experience in Linux / Unix OS Services, Administration, Shell, AWK scripting
  • Experience with CI/CD pipeline, and DevOps.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience (Terraform preferred)
  • Experience with various cloud tools such as GitHub/Sumologic/New Relic/Jenkins
  • Experience in Agile software development practices (story sizing, sprint planning, retrospectives).
  • Comfortable scripting in one or more of the following (bash, Python, Java, Perl)
  • Previous Hadoop and ETL Tool experience like DataStage is Plus.  
  • Knowledge on Spark and Python is a plus

Self-driven, Ability to work independently and as part of a team with proven track record developing and launching products at scale
