New York Life’s primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents, operating in virtually every major city in the United States.  Every agent is affiliated with one of our 117 General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales.  Approximately half our agents operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations. 

 

Our General Offices are divided up among four Zones. In addition to our Zone offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing and communications supports our agents and field managers.  The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle-income market, the advanced (high-net-worth) market, select cultural markets, and the women’s markets. Agents sell individual life insurance, individual annuities, and long-term care insurance products, as well as mutual funds.

 

This position will cover the Northern Ohio and Columbus General Offices.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Assists the Managing Partner in the Agent Supervision Processes in Agencies containing 250 or more Agents
  • Oversees all compliance and supervision operations and provides reports during periodic General Office Management Meetings
  • Develops and Monitors Monthly Plans for Unannounced Supervisory Interviews/Inspections (SII’s) which are conducted by other Agency Management Members and conducts quality control reviews of those SII’s
  • Completes Unannounced Supervisory Interview/Inspections (SII’s) of Agents & Supervisory Interviews for Service Assistants
  • Completes Supervisory Interviews for Agency Field Managers (Except Managing Partners)
  • Reviews incoming correspondence and handle red flags as appropriate
  • Signs off on most of the incoming correspondence logs in lieu of the Managing Partner
  • Reviews outgoing correspondence & assists HOS&S with unresolved email monitoring issues
  • Facilitates completion of Annual Firm Element Training, Annual Supervisory Questionnaire completion, and Registered Representative Training Modules
  • Conducts New Agent Standards and Compliance Training Meetings, including the proper file procedures in accordance with our Books & Records Rules
  • Assists the Development Managers with the Social Media Supervision Program
  • Periodically assists the ZASO in Mentoring and Developing other ASMs
  • Maintains Sales Material Review Procedures
  • Assists CCD with the handling of Registered and Non-Registered Complaints
  • Periodically assists the ZASO with Investigations involving fraud, major rule violations & sexual harassment
  • Assists the Managing Partner in reviewing and resolving ECPS Red Flag Items
  • Assists the Managing Partner in conducting and reporting on Agents Enhanced Supervision Programs and BLG Supervision Programs
  • Assists the Managing Partner with disciplinary action recommendations and the delivery of disciplinary actions to Agents and Field Management
  • Prepares for General Office Reviews conducted by the Zone & CCD and assists in closing out those reviews

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred 
  • Series 7, Series 24, Series 65 or 66 or ChFC or CFP (currently eligible to affiliate with Eagle Strategies LLC)
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience
  • Strong analytical skills, self-starter, team player, and can manage time and priorities effectively
  • Strong leadership and relationship skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of our various supervisory systems and our various rules that have been designed for compliance to regulatory organizations (such as the SEC, FINRA, State Securitas, and State Insurance Departments)
  • Demonstrated knowledge regarding our Home Office and Field Operations including, but not limited to, Agency, CCD, OGC, and the Agent's business practices
  • Currently qualified to mentor another ASM
  • Experience in assisting the ZASO with ASR/OSJ Inspections in other General Offices
  • Proven effectiveness in conducting agent training (such as fundamental career schools, firm element meetings, etc.)
  • Proven ability in assisting the Managing Partner with the execution of our Disciplinary Action Program (including the delivery of disciplinary actions)

 

 

Salary range: $105,000-$160,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No
