The Business Solutions team is part of NYLIM Service Company. It is responsible for supporting all functions of the MainStay Funds Transfer Agent in training, system enhancements, process and procedure updates and fund changes. The group focuses on both recurring and ad hoc projects and works with various departments including Legal, Marketing, Fund Accounting, Finance and Product Development.


Job Overview:

The Business Solutions Associate will be responsible for assisting with the design, delivery and evaluation of training and skill development for new hires and existing staff of the NYLIM Service Company. The NYLIM Service Company provides servicing to MainStay shareholder accounts, including omnibus positions. The associate will represent the Business Solutions team on various internal NYLIM Service Company project teams. In addition, the individual will coordinate communications for the NYLIM Service Company staff regarding changes to policies or procedures, handle data requests and ad hoc reporting.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the full lifecycle of staff training and skill development for new hires and existing staff of the NYLIM Service Company.
  • Represent Business Solutions on various internal NYLIM Service Company project teams. Assist with creating test scripts for situations such as new software implementations, system enhancements, fund mergers and fund conversions. Perform testing as needed. Assist with creating a problem log and in tracking issues that are identified through testing.
  • Create appropriate, clear and concise communications for the NYLIM Service Company staff on changes to policies or procedures. Provide updates on NYLIM’s products, the Mutual Fund/Transfer Agent and the NYLIM Service Company and ensure that the appropriate level of approval is obtained prior to the release of any communications.
  • Draft accurate and user-friendly procedures, route to all stakeholders and ensure that the appropriate level of approval is obtained prior to distribution. Review, research and answer questions on the TA Training Database. Post new documentation to the NYLIM Service Company Resource Materials page on SharePoint and ensure that it is accessible to all NYLIM Service Company staff.
  • Assist with managing the forms and applications workload which includes: updating forms and applications with changes requested by NYLIM Service Company or outside groups and routing to all stakeholders (e.g., legal, compliance, etc.), posting in all appropriate locations, and notifying staff as necessary.
  • Analyze data requests and create, prepare and distribute ad hoc reports according to scheduled deadlines and as requested. Log report requests into the Infomaker request database.
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams as needed. Provide project status and issue updates to management.
  • Provide technical assistance regarding computer and software issues to NYLIM Service Company and others.
  • Provide back-up support to other areas of the Transfer Agent.



  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience: 2+ years of work experience with proven proficiency in delivering training classes, analyzing data requests and handling reporting needs. Ability to coordinate special requests with internal and external business partners. Some experience creating test scripts for new software implementations/system enhancements required. Working knowledge of other Service Company processing applications and software. Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel and DST TA 2000 programs essential.
  • General Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Must be very detail oriented and organized.  Must possess excellent listening skills. Must be flexible and be able to adapt to changing situations. Must be able to analyze information and resolve problems. Ability to work under the pressure of time constraints essential.
