This position primarily involves a hybrid work schedule - working remotely: Monday & Friday / on site: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Summary of Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Product Manager for the newly created commercial paper program. We are seeking a highly motivated individual, with expertise in the commercial paper market, to join our team as we continue to grow New York Life’s spread lending business. The role will involve interacting with various internal and external partners, working independently, and employing decision-making skills. Opportunities for advancement within the role, as well as visibility across the organization and exposure to external stakeholders, exist for the successful candidate.  

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help develop an issuance strategy to launch, and maintain, the commercial paper (CP) program
  • Daily execution of the CP program
  • Provide insight and input for other liability issuances (medium-term notes, guaranteed interest contracts and Federal Home Loan Bank borrowings)
  • Develop and maintain tools to support the various needs and adjacencies of the business, including finance, operations, IT, legal and the asset management team.  Demonstrate an effective working relationship with a wide range of internal stakeholders, achieving goals, often under stringent time constraints.
  • Interact with external bankers on the CP program and other spread lending products.
  • Succinctly articulate an opinion and the accompanying rationale. Recognize the benefit of diverse viewpoints and be willing to pivot when new facts are learned.
  • Work effectively within a small team to execute ambitious business goals while demonstrating the ability to solve problems independently

 

Job Requirements: 

  • 7+ years of relevant experience; working knowledge of the CP market; knowledge of fixed income asset classes and asset / liability management techniques; interest in capital markets
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or other quantitative field; pursuit of a CFA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Superior quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be a highly driven individual capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy under pressure
  • Drive to work independently and as part of a small team
  • Demonstrate a high level of engagement and a willingness to learn
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

 

Preferred Skills

  • Fixed income experience in either a total return or insurance company environment
  • Asset-liability management experience

Salary range: $115,000-$175,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt
