New York Life’s primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents, operating in virtually every major city in the United States.  Every agent is affiliated with one of our 117 General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales.  Approximately half our agents operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations. 

Our General Offices are divided up among four Zones. In addition to our Zone offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing and communications supports our agents and field managers.  The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle-income market, the advanced (high-net-worth) market, select cultural markets, and the women’s markets. Agents sell individual life insurance, individual annuities, and long-term care insurance products, as well as mutual funds.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Product Manager to help influence the strategy behind the digital products New York Life’s agents use to run their businesses. This role is responsible for creating the digital product roadmap for a defined “persona” (end-user) group within the field force.  This role will interact with end-users, internal stakeholders and user experience resources to define the vision, design and features for core aspects of the Agency’s digital ecosystem.

  • Gain a deep understanding of customer experience, identify and fill product gaps and generate new ideas that improve customer experience and drive growth
  • Collect and analyze feedback from customers, stakeholders and other teams to shape requirements, features and products
  • Translate product strategy into lightweight, functional prototypes and detailed requirements, to enable engineering resources to successfully execute
  • Partner with other digital teams across Marketing, Service, and Life Products to ensure our digital experience is cohesive and integrated for defined persona group
  • Develop a digital roadmap delivering the highest value functionality for specified persona group
  • Partner with key stakeholders to identify and align on digital capabilities that provide the highest value to their persona group that will also drive Agency’s core business goals
  • Solve unique and complex problems using conceptual and innovative thinking to develop solutions

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience
  • Requires a deep knowledge of product strategy, intent/roadmap creation, agile development methodology as well as waterfall processes
  • Working knowledge of UX (User Experience) and design thinking/concepts
  • Ability to align business goals to user goals
  • In-depth understanding on persona group needs, Agency’s business goals and NYL’s broader digital strategy
  • Deep understanding of persona group’s current digital tools, work processes and function within the broader Agency system
