 Manage a team of accountants responsible for the accounting and reporting for the New York Life (“NYL”) Separate Accounts.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage the preparation of and review the accounting, reporting and analysis of various NYL separate accounts
  • Manage the preparation of and review the NYL Separate Account statutory Annual Statement filed with the NAIC and the state insurance departments
  • Responsible for researching and understanding the accounting and regulatory guidance related to separate accounts
  • Mentor direct reports and accounting staff
  • Act as a liaison with internal and external auditors

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance preferred with a minimum of 10 years experience in investment accounting and or financial accounting/reporting
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.  Must be able to effectively communicate with various levels of management, internal customers and auditors
  • Strong management/supervisor, interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Team Orientated, Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and shift priorities as necessary
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to manage and supervise a staff in a highly productive environment
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Access & PowerPoint

 

Additional Qualifications

  • Knowledge of life insurance industry accounting (Statutory Accounting) and/or insurance separate accounts
  • Knowledge of SAP and Wings
  • CPA or MBA a plus
