Job Summary

The Head of Institutional Marketing plays a critical role in helping drive the growth of New York Life Investments’ global business by leading the development of integrated marketing programs designed for institutional and global audiences.  The position will report to the Head of Global Marketing and work closely with our investment boutiques to provide value-added, differentiated, and relevant insights for institutional investors.



The Head of Institutional Marketing will have the following responsibilities, including but not limited to:


  • Working with boutiques and broader marketing and digital teams, plan and execute targeted campaigns designed to generate demand with institutional clients across the global markets
  • Partner with the boutiques and the events team to build world class institutional client events and experiences
  • Manage the editorial calendar and work with boutiques and the global institutional distribution teams to set the content agenda, identifying thought leadership pieces to create a comprehensive offering for institutional clients and prospects
  • Lead the Editorial Committee and work with the boutiques to identify market trends and proactively think about the content needs of our clients across regions and segments
  • Work closely with investment teams across boutiques to create a diverse array of thought leadership content in multiple formats (white papers, articles, blogs, webinars, videos, conference presentations, etc.)
  • Ensure boutique insight pieces are the well written and meet our commercial needs (Advise investment teams on pieces they are writing to ensure they are compelling, engaging and well researched)
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to simplify the approval and distribution process of content in different regions and markets
  • Establish a process for institutional sales teams to customize and distribute content to clients




Education: Bachelor’s degree required with a major in Marketing, Communications, or applicable field. CFA or advanced degree a plus


Experience:  Minimum 7+ years of institutional and global marketing experience in financial services/asset management  




  • Strong understanding of financial markets, investment vehicles and institutional client segments (knowledge of Asian/European markets a plus)
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others, build strong relationships and create buy-in across investment and distribution teams.
  • Ability to lead and influence investment personnel regarding themes to write about and prioritize
  • Self-starter with ability to solve ambiguous/open-ended business challenges and act as an advocate for change
  • Passion and customer focus
  • Demonstrated experience navigating and leading within a highly matrixed, complex environment
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills to work across all levels of the firm
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to convey complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  •  Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple pieces/projects at a time
