Senior Associate - Compliance Officer

Location Designation: Hybrid - 1 day per week 

 

This position is a hybrid schedule - 1 day per week in the Jersey City, NJ office.

Role Overview:

New York Life Insurance Company (“New York Life”) is seeking a Compliance Officer to provide support to New York Life Investment Management LLC (“NYLIM”). The position will report to the Senior Compliance Officer for NYLIM and is located in Jersey City, NJ.

 

The Compliance Officer will assist with various aspects of the Advisors’ Compliance programs. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the types of responsibilities the Compliance Officer may handle but are not intended to be an exclusive list. New York Life is looking for a proactive team player to be an engaged member of the Compliance team.  The position will have regular interaction with senior management, compliance, legal, portfolio management and operations personnel.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Assist in personal trade and electronic communications surveillance.
  • Maintain daily broker feeds.
  • Review and escalate personal trade and electronic communication surveillance matters, as appropriate.
  • Draft warning and violation memoranda, as applicable.
  • Assist in drafting and maintaining employee training(s).
  • Coordinate and compile annual Business Continuity updates.  
  • Prepare regulatory filings (e.g., Form N-PX, Section 13 filings, Form ADV etc.).
  • Prepare Annual Code of Ethics memoranda to Registered Funds’ Board of Trustees.
  • Research, compile and draft responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and ongoing quarterly due diligence requests prepared by the Business Response Team.
  • Assist with periodic and annual Rule 206(4)-7 compliance reviews and risk assessments for both NYLIM’s and New York Life Investments’ shared compliance policies and procedures.
  • Work with the Fund Compliance team on issues related to the NYLI Funds and ETFs, as needed.
  • Work with the Managed Accounts team on issues related to the separately managed accounts, as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of compliance reports for senior management.
  • Assist with internal audits, regulatory inquiries and examinations, and other special projects, as needed.
  • Research, evaluate and document compliance issues and work with internal personnel and service providers to investigate and resolve such issues.
  • Stay current with regulatory and industry developments.
  • Provide guidance and support to functional business units and interact with personnel at all levels of New York Life’s various business units.
  • Special projects as required.

 

What You'll Bring:

  • Two plus years of Investment Advisor and Registered Fund compliance experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with personal trade and or e-mail surveillance monitoring a plus.
  • Knowledge of the Investment Advisors Act of 1940 and the Investment Company Act of 1940, and other relevant regulations applicable to ETFs and mutual funds is desirable.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, highly proficient individual to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, and able to solve complex problems in a collaborative manner.
  • Strong communications (both verbal and written) skills and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with others and meet critical deadlines.
  • Strong ethical commitment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Pay Transparency

Salary Range:  $77,500-$132,500 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No 

 

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
