In our Leawood, Kansas office, we are seeking a highly talented and driven Technical Support Specialist to join our dynamic, high-performing team focused on ensuring our technology assets (hardware and software) properly meet the business needs of our industry leading business unit, Institutional Life (IL). IL offers sophisticated life insurance products in the Bank Owned Life Insurance (BOLI), Corporate Owned Life Insurance (COLI) and Corporate Sponsored markets. The role also provides guidance and resolution on system and operational issues that our frontline operations team encounters when providing service to our business partners and clients. The Technical Support Specialist role reports into the Technology team that provides technology services for the Institutional Life insurance business unit.

 

 Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide technology support to business users related to setting up computer workstations including docking stations, peripherals, and VoIP phones.
  • Partner with enterprise technology to install software packages and workstation upgrades, and train business users on software needed to perform their job duties.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair office technology such as any computer related equipment, video and teleconferencing equipment, facilities related devices, printers, servers, and other equipment in the office.
  • Maintain the inventory of all technology assets and equipment utilized by our employees in the office and work from home.
  • Monitor the Network Devices and the Wide Area Network connectivity that is critical to running our business operations.
  • Support system functionality by testing computer components, and system compatibility with various software packages and operating systems.
  • Troubleshoot and triage any software and/or software issues that users may be experiencing.
  • Review & monitor various daily reports and act to address any discrepancies and potential issues without management intervention or approval.
  • Work with the Business/Technology to effectively investigate, discuss, prioritize, and resolve production system defects.
  • Support senior engineers in software development and configuration efforts, where appropriate.
  • Trains users on new software in person or through a variety of channels, including self-guided training videos, user manuals, and digital instruction pages in collaboration with business analysts.
  • Documents hardware and software updates.
  • Prepares reference material for users by drafting operation instructions.

 

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • 3+ years of IT production support experience or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology/Computer Science
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Hands-on problem-solving ability
  • Software maintenance and testing capability
  • Basic knowledge of networking principles and operating systems
  • Comfortable working with the Linux command-line
  • Able to understand and update batch scripts on Windows Linux systems
  • Knowledge of a SQL language and knowledge of Relational Database concepts
  • Ability to work well under pressure & exercise flexibility
  • Understand/meet deadlines and act with a sense of urgency
  • Self-starter with ability to be accountable for assignments
  • Need to multitask and be flexible to transition efficiently with several competing priorities
  • Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to work independently or in conjunction with co-workers at all levels and across functional units
  • Ability to positively deal professionally and collaboratively with internal/external customers
  • Strong verbal, written and listening skills
  • Proficient PC skills including Microsoft Office package: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational skills and project follow-through
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Open to learning new skills and willing to take on projects to meet deadlines
  • Willingness to raise questions, issues, ideas or suggestions to co-workers at all levels across the network

Salary range: $62,500-$92,500
