This position primarily involves a hybrid work schedule - working remotely: Monday & Friday / on site: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. 


This role is on the Institutional Life Sales Support team which serves the bank- and corporate-owned life insurance (BOLI/COLI) markets at New York Life.  The majority of the Associate’s time will be focused on providing sales support, illustrations, and case design to promote new sales and support inforce business across all of the institutional markets in which New York Life participates. The Associate will report to a sales strategy analyst, while providing day-to-day support to the Institutional Life senior Sales Support team members.


The primary responsibility of this position is to provide pre-sale and inforce illustration support for the IL Distribution team, NYL Agents, and third-party distribution partners to promote sales efforts in these competitive markets and assist in the placement of cases with New York Life. Additionally, the Associate will be expected to develop their knowledge around case design over time, and to provide support as needed by our internal and external sales teams.


The successful candidate will become familiar with life insurance products, case design, and illustration systems, and develop the ability to communicate clearly regarding product and case design solutions.  It will be critical to learn and take direction from the highly experienced Sales Support team members to build specific knowledge regarding the products and designs required to help NYL succeed across the various institutional markets.


A successful candidate will also help the IL Distribution team nurture relationships by taking a proactive and customer-focused approach to their work and communications, including assisting IL Field Directors’ preparation for sales meetings.


Specific core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Providing inforce illustrations for NYL’s large book of institutional life clients, and understanding and applying internal product and regulatory insurance rules
  • Assisting with new business BOLI and COLI illustrations, starting with simple illustrations while learning about more sophisticated designs
  • Supporting user acceptance testing of IL’s illustration software updates
  • Supporting the tracking and reporting of new business and inforce case information using software including Salesforce and Tableau
  • Facilitating a variety of cadenced distribution partner communication requirements, e.g., BOLI call reports, portfolio reviews calls, and sample illustrations
  • Helping senior Sales Support team members across a variety of functions, and developing capabilities to provide more complex sales and case design support through hands-on education


Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree with 2 + years of work experience preferred
  • Series 6 registered representative; or, meet requirement to pass FINRA SIE and Series 6 exams within one year of hire
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Experience with Salesforce and/or Tableau preferred
  • Professional life insurance designation such as CLU and/or ChFC preferred
  • Role will require on-site attendance three days a week, and will be based out of Leawood, KS
  • Minimal travel may be necessary

Salary range: $47,500-$75,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No
