Corporate Vice President - Senior Developer Lead

Location Designation: Hybrid - 3 days per month

Role Overview:

The Corporate Systems Development division at New York Life Insurance Company is seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Senior Development Lead. This role requires deep expertise in Java Enterprise Edition (JEE), ReactJS for web development, cross-platform mobile application development, React Native, and API design utilizing Spring Boot/Mule.

As a Senior Development Lead, you will guide both onshore and offshore development teams to deliver scalable, high-performance applications across various platforms, including web, mobile, and enterprise systems. You will play a crucial role in designing and implementing cutting-edge solutions that address complex business challenges while staying aligned with contemporary technology trends. Proficiency in Agile methodologies and experience leading cross-functional teams are critical for success in this role.

What You’ll Do:

  • Transform functional specifications into detailed technical designs, ensuring the development of high-quality, scalable solutions. Oversee both frontend and backend development processes.
  • Design, code, document, and deploy robust Enterprise Java solutions using JEE. Conduct comprehensive regression testing and develop thorough JUnit tests to ensure reliability.
  • Monitor and enhance system performance, providing actionable insights and recommendations for optimization and improvements.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation of program development, revisions, and technical processes. Deliver timely support and resolution for customer inquiries.
  • Lead small to medium-sized projects and contribute significantly to larger project teams. Provide accurate estimates and timelines for project deliverables.
  •  Interface effectively with vendors and cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration between onshore and offshore team members.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and methodologies. Research and propose tools and technologies that can advance project outcomes.
  • Embrace and lead Agile practices., conduct proofs-of-concept, and develop prototypes to validate innovative solutions.

 

What You’ll Bring:

Technical Expertise

  • Expert knowledge of JEE, Java Technology Stack, Cross Platform Mobile Development, SOAP, RESTful services, Spring Boot, and SQL.
  • Proficiency in frontend frameworks and technologies, including TypeScript, ReactJS, React Native, HTML5, CSS3, and Bootstrap.
  • Angular and VueJS are optional.
  • Strong understanding of application security best practices (e.g., OWASP) and ability to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities.
  •  Experienced with Git, Team Foundation Server, and other version control and development tools.
  • Hands-on experience with Cloud development and storage services is advantageous.
  • Skilled in API integration, writing unit test cases, and performing System Integration Testing (SIT).
  • Deep understanding of JEE application development processes and architectural considerations.

Communication Skills

  • Exhibit exceptional verbal and written communication skills, serving as a key liaison between IT and business units. Manage customer expectations and ensure high levels of satisfaction.
  • Customize presentations for diverse audiences. Facilitate design sessions and clearly articulate technical concepts and solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience with Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) and a proven track record of leadership in managing both onshore and offshore development teams.
  • At least 8 years of experience in object-oriented analysis and design (OOAD) and enterprise Java development. Demonstrated success in leading development teams, including offshore management.
  • Proficiency with Java SE 8, JEE 5, Spring 3, Spring MVC, ReactJS, React Native, JSTL, Spring AOP/Annotations/Security, Apache Maven, jQuery UI, JUnit, SOAP Web Services, IBM WebSphere 7, SQL, Oracle, Unix Scripting (Korn Shell), ANT, GitHub, TypeScript, JavaScript, CSS3, Bootstrap, and HTML.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is preferred.
  •  SUN/Oracle Java certification is highly desirable.

Pay Transparency

Salary Range:  $122,500-$210,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No 

 

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
