This is a Hybrid role - can work from home and only 3 times a month required to be in the office

New York Life Insurance (NYL) is seeking a highly talented, driven Solution Architect to join our dynamic, high-performing team focused on transforming the experience of purchasing insurance from NYL.  NYL is uniquely positioned for success on this journey thanks to our significant strategic advantage in insurance expertise and deep financial resources.  

 

The Solution Architect provides technical expertise, leadership and oversight to multiple platforms driving the future-state vision for the Purchase Experience at NYL.  This role is a thought-leader that applies knowledge of modern software, cloud architecture, and industry trends to define innovative solutions to complex business problems.  It requires expert team building, relationship management, and influencing skills.  The ideal candidate has a minimum of 7 years of experience architecting multi-provider, multi-cloud, API integrated technology solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise on complex projects
  • Lead solution assessments, including market scans and vendor evaluations
  • Define technical proof of concepts as needed to vet potential solutions
  • Maintain an awareness of upcoming technology advances, product offerings and their implications to the Purchase Experience technology ecosystem
  • Create solution architectures that connect 3rd party vendor products with internal NYL applications using standard integration patterns
  • Maintain software roadmap illustrating the progression of technology capabilities required to meet the future-state business vision for the Purchase Experience
  • Design, direct and perform governance activities to ensure solutions conform to target-state architecture
  • Partner with PMO, POs and technology leadership to deliver complex solutions to enhance business capabilities
  • Partner with security and IT risk teams to ensure solution architecture incorporates best practices for data privacy and security
  • Manage relationship with enterprise architecture team to ensure enterprise standards are incorporated in solution architectures

 

Required experience and skills:

  • 7+ years of solution architecture experience
  • 4+ years of development or software engineering experience
  • 3+ years utilizing Cloud-Enabled/Optimized practices for Application Development
  • Experience leading solution assessments, including vendor evaluations
  • Experience with distributed architecture frameworks and cross platform integration
  • Detailed understanding of development methodologies
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to varying audiences, including non-technical business executives
  • Experience implementing high volume, mission critical, production systems
  • Ability to establish business relationships built on trust, transparency, collaboration, and accountability
  • In-depth understanding of SOA, Web services, XML, XSD, WSDL and RAML
  • Excellent judgment and analytical skills including detailed planning and project management
  • Experience mentoring and coaching employees or consultants
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field and/or equivalent work experience preferred but not required

Salary range: $132,500-$197,500 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
