Job Title: 2025 AI & Data Summer Internship Program – Data Team

The Data sub-team at New York Life encompasses various functions, including analytics engineering, data strategy and governance, platforms and integrations, and data ingestion and pipelines. This team plays a critical role in building scalable data solutions that support the company’s strategic objectives.

Interns will join one of five key areas within the Data team:

1. Analytics Engineering: Work on automating data processes, enhancing data quality frameworks, and building scalable data solutions.
2. Data Strategy & Governance: Improve data management and governance using cutting-edge tools like ML, LLMs, NLP, and GPTs to refine curation, data quality and efficiency.  
3. Platform Engineering & Tools: Support infrastructure projects, such as AWS cloud automation and operationalizing data tools, to enhance efficiency.
4. Platforms & Integrations: Enhance integration platforms with projects like developing APIs, optimizing search utilities, and streamlining DevOps processes.
5. Enterprise Data Management: Automate workflows, improve performance, Engineer and build Data ingestion and Integration frameworks for efficient data processing, transformation & publishing.

What You'll Bring:

• Analytics Engineering: Passion for innovative solutions, process automation, and improving data quality frameworks.
• Data Strategy & Governance: Interest in data management, governance practices, and cutting-edge NLP tools.
• Platform Engineering & Tools: Technical expertise in cloud infrastructure, DevOps automation, and advanced analytics platforms.
• Platforms & Integrations: Strong problem-solving skills and interest in integration platforms, semantic search, and AI tools.
• Enterprise Data Management: Analytical mindset with a focus on optimizing data workflows and scalable data management.

Required Skills:

• Analytics Engineering: Rising senior pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related field. A Basic understanding of principles of data warehousing / data pipelining. Proficiency in Python, SQL and dbt, Jinja templates, and API integration.
• Data Strategy & Governance: Rising senior or graduate student pursuing a degree in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field. Proficiency in Python, Machine Learning, SQL, and NLPs.
• Platform Engineering & Tools: Rising senior or graduate student pursuing a degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or Software Engineering. Proficiency in AWS, PostgreSQL, and DevOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, Terraform).
• Platforms & Integrations: Rising senior or graduate student pursuing a degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or Software Engineering. Proficiency in Python, platform architecture, and API development.
• Enterprise Data Management: Rising senior or graduate student pursuing a degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or Software Engineering. Experience with AWS, Glue, Python, and Informatica Data Management Cloud.
