The New York Life Summer Internship experience offers an exciting opportunity for rising juniors and seniors looking to gain exposure to a corporate environment. As part of your summer, you’ll participate in learning and development activities, gaining insight into our business and how our company functions. The summer internship program also includes additional social and networking opportunities where you will be able to expand your network with peers, mentors and senior leaders.
The Summer Internship opportunity is 10 weeks long, beginning Monday June 1st, 2026, and concluding Thursday, August 6, 2026. Interns will work on a hybrid schedule with Mondays and Fridays remotely.
Internship opportunities may be located in: New York, NY, White Plains, NY or Jersey City, NJ. Location is dependent upon the exact team you are aligned to; however, you will be able to specify your preferences on the job application.
What You’ll Do:
Join New York Life’s Financial Products, Planning & Strategy pathway and gain hands-on experience learning how financial solutions are developed, analyzed, and managed across a Fortune 100 company. As an intern, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the financial side of the business — from institutional annuities to insurance products— while building skills in research, analysis, and strategic thinking.
Interns in this pathway are placed on a team within one of several departments, based on business need. You’ll collaborate with professionals on projects that provide insight into how New York Life develops financial products, evaluates performance, and creates strategies to serve clients and policyholders.
Projects may include:

Conducting research and analysis on financial products, investments, or market trends

Assisting with portfolio reviews, reporting, and performance analysis

Supporting product development efforts by analyzing data and reviewing design features

Contributing to financial planning and strategic initiatives that guide business decisions

Preparing reports, dashboards, or presentations that summarize insights for internal stakeholders
This pathway is ideal for students who are interested in finance, investments, or product strategy, enjoy working with data and markets, and want to apply analytical and critical thinking skills to real-world financial challenges.
What You’ll Bring:
Must be enrolled at an accredited 4-year university or college with anticipated graduation date between December 2026 and May 2028.
Preferred Skills:

Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to work with financial data

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with financial modeling or reporting tools a plus

Strong written and verbal communication abilities

Intellectual curiosity about markets, investments, and financial products

Ability to synthesize research and analysis into clear insights and recommendations

Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills

Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in team settings

Coursework or interest in finance, economics, accounting, business, or related fields
Additional Details:
- Internship applications will only be accepted through December 31st, 2025.
- Candidates will be considered on a rolling basis and notified by the end of January if selected to interview.
- Interns are expected to work for the duration of the 10-week internship.
