This position will process, track, and analyze daily treasury and commission activities for two New York Life subsidiaries that are SEC and FINRA regulated.   It will also assist with preparation of month end journal entries and workpapers and support other team members with special projects as needed.

•  Update daily cash tracking worksheets, ensuring activity is properly reconciled, documented and coded to the correct general ledger accounts.
• Responsible for all incoming checks or ACH credits from clients - input to appropriate system, track status, deposit to bank.  Follow up with outside parties or other department personnel on any associated discrepancies or questions.
• Daily update and tracking of all commissions received - this includes gaining an understanding of underlying products and third parties and being able to identify variances or transactions that require additional research.  

 • Work with Commissions team to clear variances, answer questions and provide appropriate tracking data to assist in the processing and payment of commissions to New York Life agents.

• Prepare check and wire requests for review and approval by senior management.

• Assist team members with preparation of month end schedules to support journal entries and workpapers including preparation of system input of certain journal entries.   

• Assist senior team members on ad hoc projects. 



Bachelor's degree in Accounting

Some similar work history required (summer or college internships acceptable). Ideal candidate is recent  college graduate or has 1-2 years post-graduate full time experience.

Intermediate Excel and basic Word proficiencies.

Good oral and written communications – the candidate must be comfortable asking questions and communicating with various levels of management as well as actively participating in team meetings.
Strong attention to details.
Able to meet deadlines – this job has definitive intraday and other time sensitive deliverables.
Comfortable working independently in some circumstances.
Strong problem solving skills including using judgment to follow up on or elevate unusual transactions or trends to senior team members.
