Associate, Reinsurance Administration Analyst
Location Designation: Hybrid - 1 day per week
Role Overview:
New York Life’s Reinsurance Team is responsible for assessing and acquiring reinsurance (insurance purchased by New York Life to cover a portion of the risks on policies that we issue). The team’s role is to support New York Life’s profitability and risk mitigation objectives, while administering the portfolio of reinsurance agreements on an ongoing basis. New York Life has approximately 350 reinsurance agreements in place, which provide close to $300B of reinsurance coverage for over 1 million policies.
The Reinsurance Administration role supports the Reinsurance Operations area in ensuring that reinsured policies and related claim payments from reinsurers are handled timely and accurately for New York Life’s Individual Life reinsurance agreements.
What You’ll Do:
- Investigate, evaluate, and resolve issues related to reinsurance processing on individual policies within established guidelines and procedures.
- Monitor key reports to promptly identify and address reinsurance issues, ensuring all financial implications are properly captured and communicated.
- Calculate interest on reinsurance claim payments and process claims accurately in the reinsurance administration system.
- Notify and bill reinsurers for claims in a timely, precise manner, and track receipt of claim recoveries.
- Serve as a primary contact for reinsurers to provide explanations, documentation, and issue resolution.
- Prepare and deliver supporting data and analysis for reinsurer audits.
- Partner with management on ad hoc analysis, projects, and process enhancements, with a focus on leveraging AI.
- Respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders, ensuring professional and timely communication.
What You’ll Bring:
- Strong proficiency in Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint.
- SQL knowledge a plus
- Demonstrated analytical ability and attention to detail.
- Aptitude for identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn new systems and workflows quickly.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business preferred.
- Relevant internship or prior insurance/finance operations experience a plus.
Pay Transparency
Salary Range: $50,000-$71,500
Overtime eligible: Nonexempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Sales bonus eligible: No
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
