Audit Manager - Corporate Audit Department

New York Life’s Audit Department is accountable to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer, and senior management. The Audit Department is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of the control environment for the firm’s many lines of business in and outside the United States.  A risk-based approach is used to identify where and when audits are performed.  Advisory services are also provided at the request of management.

 

The Corporate Audit Department is comprised of approximately 60 auditors that review insurance, investments, information technology, financial reporting, agency, corporate functions and fraud. The Audit Manager position will play an important role in planning, scoping, control analysis and testing, and reporting. The Audit Manager will also be responsible for assisting with ongoing risk assessment and continuous monitoring activities.  The position is based in the Company’s headquarters in New York City.  The department uses a hybrid work model, where employees spend some days in the office and some working from home each week.

 

Responsibilities:

Active member on audit engagements by performing audit entity risk assessments, audit planning, control evaluation, audit testing, and follow-up and verification of issue closure. Includes coaching junior members on audit assignments.

 

Preferred Candidates Should:

  • Be curious, open-minded individuals with problem solving attributes that enjoy learning about all aspects of finance operations supporting insurance, retirement, and investment products
  • Have strong written and oral communication skills, as well as listening skills
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Have strong project management skills
  • Be enthusiastic and self-motivated   
  • Have or be willing to learn analytic and data visualization skills
  • Be comfortable with travel, when required
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree (higher education and/or professional designations a plus)
  • Have minimum five years of audit experience

Salary range: $90,000-$135,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No
