Duties: Performs modeling, calculations, and analysis of statutory, tax, and GAAP reserves for deferred and payout annuities. Supports internal and external audits concerning reserving calculations, reporting, and controls. Creates, modifies, and automates Excel spreadsheets to perform detailed audits and sample test calculations for multiple product features in the valuation system on a monthly basis. Performs VA CARVM and C3 Phase II calculations and analysis. Establishes reserving methodologies for new products and coordinates with Pricing. Conducts loss recognition testing.

Education & Experience Requirements:

 Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and 3 years of experience performing actuarial services related to the valuation, pricing, and actuarial modeling for insurance and annuity products

Or, in the alternative:

Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and 5 years of experience performing actuarial services related to the valuation, pricing, and actuarial modeling for insurance and annuity products.

Required Special Skills:

  • Must possess Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation

Experience must include 1 year in each of the following skills:

  1. Performing NAIC principle-based reserves (PBR) and C3 phase II (C3P2) calculations and analysis for variable annuities;

 

  1. Leveraging utilizing GGY AXIS to implement PBR and C3P2 calculations for variable annuities;

 

  1. Developing independent spreadsheets for model implementation validation, including annuity reserves calculations;

 

  1. Performing actuarial services, including the application and interpretation of regulations and accounting practices for valuation work; and,

 

  1. Leveraging stochastic modeling to build and develop pricing or reserving models.
