New York Life (a Fortune 100 company, as well as one of Fortune’s 2019 World’s Most Admired Companies), is seeking a dynamic talent to lead all marketing efforts behind our Variable Annuity product line. As a leader in the retirement solutions space, Variable Annuities represent a major pillar of New York Life’s $15 billion Annuities Business. Most importantly, they provide unique solutions to help clients feel more confident about retirement.

The Marketing Manager will be responsible for telling this important story by developing and executing strategies, content, materials, and campaigns to enhance the marketing of our Variable Annuities.

Ideal candidates will be marketers at heart: self-starters who love crafting stories, have an eye for design, appreciate the details, and view writing as one of their strengths. Applicants must also have experience communicating complex ideas to senior management, collaborating within a highly “matrixed” organization, and balancing a multitude of projects concurrently.

A more detailed list of roles and responsibilities include:

  • Own and lead all marketing efforts related to New York Life’s Variable Annuity product suite
  • Execute on all activities related to the development of actionable sales ideas and innovative and effective marketing materials, seminars, tools, videos, and communications to help drive annuity sales
  • Plan, develop, and deploy key marketing campaigns (email, social media, direct mail etc) to help drive annuity sales, working in close collaboration with Sales, Relationship Management, Legal, Design, Production, and Digital teams
  • Develop engaging marketing and training presentations through the effective use of PowerPoint
  • Partner with the Product Development Manager to understand key business drivers and align marketing efforts with the broader goals of the business
  • Represent the Annuity Marketing Team at brainstorming, strategy, and project management meetings, and on cross-functional work streams
  • Identify future marketing opportunities by proactively researching, monitoring, and analyzing competitors’ products, sales focuses, and marketing strategies throughout the annuity industry
  • Conduct ongoing review and assessment of existing product support materials to ensure effectiveness, timeliness, and appropriateness with recommendations for improvement
  • Manage current library of Variable Annuity resources, ensuring materials are kept current for compliance purposes and are updated or revised to ensure adherence with compliance standards

Required and/or desired qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of related work experience
  • Series 6 and 63 licenses
  • A solid understanding of the financial services industry, including retirement planning products like annuities and mutual funds
  • Prior experience with marketing campaign development (initiatives leveraging social media, sales collateral, content marketing, and financial education)
  • The ability to anticipate internal and external business challenges and/or regulatory issues and recommend process or product improvements
  • A track record of solving unique and complex problems, using conceptual and innovative thinking to develop solutions
  • Strong business and creative writing skills
  • Excellent PowerPoint skills is a MUST
  • An eye for branding, design, and formatting
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills
  • The ability to analyze data and synthesize into meaningful results for a diverse audience
  • The ability to work independently on projects and work in a team environment with flexible parameters
  • A self motivated, results-oriented individual with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with tight deadlines
