Change Management Director Summary:

The Change Manager will have the opportunity to develop and execute enterprise wide Change Management Strategy focused on driving increased employee adoption of change.

As the company continues to advance innovative data driven capabilities, you will have the chance to drive a transformational joint business and technology effort to create the future-state infrastructure, processes, roles and tools for the core businesses of New York Life.

While the initial focus will be on the Data Experience Program you will have the chance to drive a diverse set of business problems surrounding the digital journey.  


Data Experience Program Responsibilities:

The Change Manager will work with multiple workstreams and cross-functional teams, with emphasis on Retail Life / Agency business. The reach of the work in this role will be enterprise-wide, with focus on stakeholder alignment and influencing shift in mindset.

You will actively influence and coach Executives, Managers and other Change Champions in driving change. Additionally, you will partner with the Retail Life book of business, Data Solutions and Governance team, Project Management, Technology, Corporate Communications and Training teams in integrating change.


You will:

  • Develop, socialize, influence, and execute Change Management strategy focused on engaging the business areas at all levels of the organization
  • Design an integrated Change Management strategy and plan to drive increased employee adoption of the change
  • Ensure exceptional alignment with Data Solutions and Governance Team (for strategy and planning, sequencing and prioritization and related work deliverables) and with the Office of Change Management (to integrate NYL Change methodology, assets and tools)
  • Influence stakeholders both across and vertically to shift mindset and thinking
  • Define and execute on stakeholder management activities to ensure buy-in and commitment for innovative ways of work
  • Identify and analyze stakeholder engagement levels and propose engagement plans to senior leaders
  • Partner closely with the communications team to define and deliver the vision, plans and outcome with clarity and intent
  • Partner with other parts of the organization and CoEs instrumental in delivering the change
  • Actively coach and mentor senior leaders, change champions and peers in driving the change
  • Engage a community of data stewards as champions to drive adoption and mindset shift
  • Consult and coach project teams on integrating change management activities into project plans
  • Monitor and measure impact of change and address any risks or gaps with required mitigation plans
  • Actively participate in various committee meetings and other forums related to program workstream efforts
  • Define success measures and track progress related to Change Management


Preferred Skills:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7+ years of Change Management experience
  • Demonstrated capability working with enterprise level people, process and technology change
  • A solid understanding and pragmatic application of change methods and tools
  • Implementation experience that includes multiple key components of a Change Management Strategy (e.g.  stakeholder management, communication, change impact assessment, change readiness assessment, champion network, behavioral and culture change, training etc.)
  • Experience working in matrix organization and partnering with multiple functions and a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Proven experience in developing and delivering business change, including strategy, plan and success measures
  • Organized with a natural inclination for planning strategy and tactics, problem solving and root cause identification skills
  • Strategic, conceptual thinker with ability to translate strategy into action
  • Proficient in use of the MS Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Project)
  • Ability to interact with employees across all levels of the organization, with strong executive presence
  • Ability to establish trusting relationships, influence others and move them towards a common vision
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills – both written and verbal
