The Client Communications team is responsible for communications sent to our agents and external clients.  This includes new communications, changes to existing communications as well as strategic initiatives to move correspondence off of legacy platforms and onto a modern document composition platform. The Senior Associate role provides exposure to all business units within the Service organization, and demands flexible and creative thinking as tasks are highly variable, changing often based on emerging business needs and industry trends.

 

The Senior Associate is responsible for supporting the Service organzation by eliciting and documenting business requirements for communications from subject matter experts. The communications include subjects across the full product life cycle for all Life Insurance and Annuity products.  The Senior Associate uses their solid understanding of agile and sprint methodologies and Jira to effectively participate in sprint planning, daily standups and managing user stories. The Senior Associate communicates correspondence requirements to the copywriters, systems analysts, developers, QA , and UAT resources, and supports them through the implementation by addressing issues, providing clarification, and managing changes. 

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Client Communications team is responsible for communications sent to our agents and external clients.  This includes new communications, changes to existing communications as well as strategic initiatives to move correspondence off the mainframe and other legacy platforms and onto a modern document composition platform comprised of Messagepoint and Exstream.

 

The Senior Associate role provides exposure to all business units within Service Org and demands flexible and creative thinking as tasks are highly variable, changing often based on emerging business needs and industry trends.

 

This role is also responsible for supporting the Service Organization by eliciting business requirements for communications from subject matter experts and documenting them in the Business Requirements Document.  The communications include subjects across the full product life cycle for all Insurance and Annuity products.  The Senior Associate uses his / her solid understanding of agile and sprint methodologies and the Rally software to effectively participate in sprint planning, daily standups and managing user stories.


The Senior Associate communicates the requirements for Exstream letters to the Writers, Systems Analysts, Developers, and QA and UAT resources and supports them through the implementation by addressing issues, providing clarification and managing changes.  For Messagepoint letters, the Senior Associate also builds the letter themselves and works with the tech team to implement.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Having an in depth understanding of content creation and management, including naming conventions and content organization in Messagepoint and Exstream and stylistic elements associated with both individual pieces of content as well as NYL branding standards.

  • Eliciting and documenting business requirements from subject matter experts.  This requires an understanding of the Correspondence infrastructure and capabilities at New York life to ensure that we meet the needs of the business and our clients while staying within our technical capabilities.

  • Creating design documentation for Messagepoint letters.

  • Building correspondence in Messagepoint.  This requires a combination of business understanding and technical capability in order to turn business requirements into a fully implemented piece of correspondence that will be delivered to our agents or clients.

  • Documents new, repeatable processes for the benefit of the rest of the team.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum of 3+ years of related experience

  • Working understanding of Exstream and/or content management methodologies.

  • Experience using Messagepoint to implement correspondence

  • Any data analysis, data mining and database experience is a plus.

  • Strong experience with Excel, Word, Access, Visio, Sharepoint, Agile Manager, PDF editing

  • Strong ability to communicate in written, oral and presentation formats to best represent and express intent and business requirements to various audiences.

  • Responds and communicates efficiently with Technology and SMEs to facilitate resolution of issues when necessary.

  • Forms productive relationships with internal customers by listening, clarifying, and responding effectively.
