New York Life Real Estate Investors (NYLREI) is the real estate investment arm of one of the nation’s largest mutual life insurance companies.  NYLREI manages over $50 billion in client assets, including commercial mortgages, commercial mortgage backed securities (CMBS), direct equity real estate ownership and other real estate related investments on behalf of both third party institutional investors and New York Life.

 

NYLREI has an immediate opening for an Associate in our CMBS and real estate capital markets group. 

 

The position will entail the following responsibilities:

 

  • Working with senior members of the team, assisting in collateral loan analysis of the CMBS we buy, sell or hold; and ascertaining how the performance of the underlying loans affects the credit worthiness and performance of the related CMBS bonds.
  • The production and distribution of portfolio reporting, including assisting in conducting surveillance on portfolio holdings.
  • Assisting with market research, web based data mining, cash flow modeling, and data base analysis.

 

The ideal candidate should be self-motivated and able to handle multiple work assignments.  They should have the ability to work in a team environment.  The role requires strong computer modeling skills, including advanced knowledge of MS Excel and ability to work with large data sets.  The successful candidate will possess up to two years of experience in financial or quantitative analysis or similar educational background as well as a demonstrated interest in commercial real estate.
