Position Overview

New York Life’s Wealth Management Solutions (WMS) department is comprised of enables our financial professionals to address accumulation goals of our clients through Eagle Strategies (Advisory) and NYLIFE Securities (Brokerage)

Opportunity

The individual in this role will lead the analytics and business planning function for Wealth Management Solutions Strategy and Business Planning team, which works closely with senior management to define and articulate business strategy, identify, and drive growth opportunities for the business, lead business planning, and support oversight and execution of strategic initiatives.

 

The individual should be self-driven and be able to work independently with minimal supervision, develop high quality deliverables and maintain transparency

 Role Description

  • Facilitates annual planning exercise across brokerage and advisory business lines
  • Drives the setting of long-term aspirational goals that align to strategy and purpose of WMS
  • Leads the development of business, strategic, and financial KPIs and their near-term targets
  • Develops benchmarks for WMS (internal and external) to monitor health of the business and identify opportunities to scale, innovate and differentiate
  • Prepares financial case (including opportunity size, addressable size, P&L impact, etc.) for key strategic initiatives or strategic problem in collaboration with cross-functional experts and product lines; synthesize and present findings to senior leadership
  • Collaborates with brokerage and advisory business lines to develop business insights by analyzing client segments (middle market and affluent) and their acquisition/relationship depth, advisor segments and productivity, and product penetration to influence business strategy and support strategic decisions
  • Collaborates with departments across the firm (e.g., Data Science team) to understand purchase pattern analysis, retention/loyalty, etc.
  • Develops an analytic-driven process to support pilot and establish test and learn methodologies (e.g., A/B test)

 Qualifications

We are looking for outstanding individuals proficient in data/analytics, high curiosity, pragmatic problem-solving skills, strong communication and influencing capabilities.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced credentials (FSA, MBA, or CFA) preferred
  • 10+ years of overall experience, 3-5+ years in management consulting role, with strong experience in research and analysis, leading complex cross-functional initiatives, and building presentations for senior management
  • Experience within corporate strategy, management consulting, and/or business development
  • Expertise in the insurance, annuity, wealth management and or retirement industry preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, strong analytical sills along with project and process management skills
  • Communicates and negotiates with the most senior levels of management to influence decisions
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with very tight deadlines, ability to adapt to changing priorities, and managing across multiple stakeholders
  • Proactive, results-oriented, ability to handle multiple, time-sensitive initiative while focusing on the quality of work delivered across audience segments
  • Proactively identifies and solves the most complex problems; uses education and/or equivalent experience, and may use ground-breaking methods to think beyond existing solutions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Knowledge of Tableau is a plus
