Position Summary:

New York Life is seeking a highly qualified individual for the role of Corporate Vice President, Digital Health Data. This individual will be part of a team that is responsible for development and delivery of strategic capabilities, including application of new data (e.g., digital health data) to deliver customer value or operational efficiencies across the life insurance value chain.

This is a unique opportunity to have a significant impact on the future growth and operations of the company through the development of key strategic capabilities as New York Life (and the life insurance industry as a whole). The ideal candidate will have prior consulting experience within the healthcare space, with a strong understanding of health data, as well as significant business development experience within medium-large sized companies with a broad range of external partners.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead project definition, planning and execution for highly visible cross-functional initiatives which drive the use of digital health data for underwriting risk assessment
  • Design, develop and operationalize new strategic solutions and capabilities to improve customer experience and operations
  • Define and execute strategy, roadmap, objectives and key results for multiple operational uses cases
  • Take overall ownership in achieving results in operational metrics and executing business strategy and objectives
  • Support and influence decisions with key insights, data analysis & effective presentations of important factors driving the businesses
  • Provides thought leadership on the application of digital health for underwriting risk assessment
  • Develop polished presentations and data visualizations to synthesize and communicate complex data analysis to various constituencies, including senior leadership, internal and external partners
  • Partner with external vendors and lead internal business and technology teams to develop, test, pilot and operationalize new innovative data sources for risk assessment and advanced analytics
  • Perform data analysis to support the identification and prioritization of business requirements and rules
  • Proactively identifies and solves complex problems
  • Establish, negotiate, and grow complex external partnerships to support execution and delivery
  • Effectively collaborate and communicate with a broad range of functional areas including: Senior Leadership, Technology, Underwriting, Marketing, Field Service, Data Scientists, Sales Agents, Data Security, Legal, Compliance, Procurement, Operational Risk Management  

 

Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated, with strong leadership skills and executive presence
  • Collaborative work style and leadership presence with ability to effectively interact with and earn trust of peers and senior management across the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams in the realization of project goals and time-bound deliverables; experience coordinating and leading projects across cross-functional teams
  • Significant understanding and hand-on experience with healthcare standards for terminology and integration
  • Very strong analytical and synthesis skills required
  • Strong execution orientation an absolute must
  • Ability to independently prioritize multiple assignments and multi-task essential; must be very organized and have excellent follow-up and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required; experience with databases and analytic/statistical tools helpful
  • Outstanding judgment, critical thinking, time management, communication and writing skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior management (presentations, emails and discussions)

 

Experience:

  • 7 – 15+ years of experience in roles across consulting, corporate strategy, solution development, product management
  • Top-tier management consulting firm or internal consulting experience strongly preferred;
  • Experience and knowledge of the healthcare industry, experience working with health data is required
  • Corporate business development experience, building internal and external partnerships and delivering real business results with companies of various sizes
  • Significant experience with and aptitude for conducting research and analysis, including detailed operational analysis 
  • Experience with Software Development Life Cycle and Agile framework/ methodologies
  • Broad knowledge of the Life Insurance industry a strong plus

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • MBA or Masters preferred but not required
