Corporate Vice President, Director, AI Discovery Program Strategy (93855)

Department: Experience and Digital Marketing

Location: Home Office, New York, NY (Hybrid, Mon, Tues, Wed)

For over 180 years, New York Life Insurance Company has helped people achieve financial security and peace of mind. As a Fortune 100 company and the largest mutual life insurer in the United States, we are now transforming how we deliver on that mission, building AI-enabled, next-generation digital experiences that redefine how we connect with the people and institutions we serve. This is a rare opportunity to shape that future from the inside.

Position Overview:

This role drives New York Life's cross-channel program strategy for discoverability and demand in an AI-mediated world, sets the KPIs for it, and is accountable for hitting them. As people increasingly use AI platforms (such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews) to learn about and choose financial providers, those platforms draw on everything we publish and everything said about us. Our channels across owned, earned, and paid are run by dedicated teams. This role connects them into one full-funnel, in-year and multi-year strategy and plan so that New York Life comes across as one enterprise across businesses, audiences, and channels.

The role works closely with channels teams, measurement and insights, brand, content, design, product teams, marketing teams, others. The audiences extend beyond consumers to clients, the field, job candidates, institutional, and broker/dealer audiences among others. While this role is not hands-on in AI Search/SEO, this role will partner with existing teammates who are, and deep acumen and prior experience in this domain are necessary. This role is also not a campaign planner or general marketer but prior experience is preferred and will be partnering with teams in these domains.

Enterprise Plan and KPIs

  • Drives the cross-channel plan across earned, owned, and paid, covering the full funnel, from upper-funnel presence in AI platforms.
  • Build in-year and multi-year strategies for key businesses and audiences, and set priorities and tradeoffs with and across channel teams.
  • Establish the enterprise KPIs and align with channel teams to deliver against them. Report progress to senior leaders and adjust the plan based on results.

AI-Driven Acquisition and Journeys

  • Define AI-driven acquisition strategies that use AI search, AI-mediated discovery, and AI-enabled channels to generate and capture demand across product lines and audiences, including consumers and field recruiting.
  • Partner with Experience Design and voice of customer teams to map AI-influenced acquisition journeys and identify where AI touchpoints create entry points into New York Life.
  • Work with Analytics and other teams to establish measurement frameworks for AI search presence and AI's contribution to acquisition, including attribution across AI-mediated touchpoints.

Cross-Channel Integration

  • Ensure consistent representation of New York Life across channels and businesses, including how AI platforms describe and recommend us.
  • Set the strategy and shared standards that align channel and delivery teams (SEO and AI Search, PR, social, paid, dotcom, content, etc.), and ensure short-term and long-term initiatives align to the strategy

Content Architecture and AI Discoverability

  • Align strategy for structured data, schema markup, and content architecture that improve how AI systems ingest, index, and cite New York Life's content, working with Content Strategy, SEO/AI Search, Dotcom, Enablement, and Technology.
  • Evaluate and recommend approaches to knowledge graphs, entity resolution, and semantic content modeling with SEO, Enablement, Technology, Data, and Product.
  • Collaborate with Product, Marketing Operations, and Enablement to support our modernization to headless content.

Research, Experimentation, and Future State

  • Lead future-state visioning for AI-mediated acquisition and marketing, defining what AI-first discovery, engagement, and demand models look like as AI becomes a primary way people evaluate financial providers.
  • Commission novel research (quantitative, qualitative, and other methods) on how people use AI to research and choose financial services, and how competitors are represented.
  • Structure and partner to conduct experiments with clear hypotheses to show which AI acquisition and marketing models work and why, and use results to shift investment.
  • Pioneer new artifacts that make AI-mediated demand visible and measurable, such as competitive representation maps and AI acquisition attribution visualizations.

Product, Experience, and Governance Partnership

  • Partner with Experience Design and AI Experience Product Management to apply discovery insights to journeys, capabilities, and roadmaps.
  • Work with Compliance, Legal, and Technology to build regulatory and risk requirements into the plan.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Data Science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

Experience

  • 10+ years in marketing, brand, digital, SEO, or channel strategy with accountability for full-funnel, cross-channel plans spanning earned, owned, paid, and social.
  • Experience and deep fluency in SEO, AI search, or generative search strategy
  • Experience owning KPIs for programs delivered through multiple teams you do not directly manage, and driving results.
  • Experience building annual and multi-year strategies for multiple businesses or product lines, ideally in a way that unifies an enterprise brand.
  • Experience working with measurement teams to define frameworks and metrics, including for upper-funnel or hard-to-attribute impact.
  • Experience designing and leading original research and turning findings into strategy.
  • Applied experience with AI and emerging platforms in a marketing or discovery context.

Skills

  • Connecting earned, owned, paid, and social strategies into one plan, and making tradeoffs across channels and funnel stages.
  • Setting KPIs and holding cross-functional teams accountable for them through influence, not direct authority.
  • Understanding how AI platforms form answers and what sources influence them, well enough to set strategy and challenge vendor claims.
  • Defining measurement approaches for new channels where standard metrics do not yet exist.
  • Designing research and experiments that produce evidence leaders can act on.
  • Directing specialists and channel teams while keeping a strategic view.
  • Clear communication to executive, business, and working-level audiences; comfort with ambiguity and skepticism toward hype.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in insurance, financial services, or another regulated industry.
  • Experience with public relations, earned media, or social strategy.
  • Familiarity with structured data, content architecture, headless content, and adtech or martech platforms.
