New York Life is hiring a Corporate Vice President, Client Engagement for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) to help drive awareness of diverse and underserved communities’ unique financial wellness challenges and develop customized financial wellness content and engagement strategies that help facilitate adoption in service of improving individual and organizational financial health.


The ideal candidate will have a firm understanding of the group benefits landscape (e.g., group insurance, voluntary benefits and/or retirement), influencers (e.g., BRGs/ERGs, faith communities, associations, finfluencers, etc.) and today’s financial wellness landscape. He/She/They will possess superior communications and integrated marketing skills, with demonstrated success working with plan sponsors, benefit administrators and/or brokers to engage workers in programs that drive material outcomes. Finally, the successful candidate will be adept at translating features into benefits that resonate with underserved stakeholder needs.


Role Description:



Strategic execution:

  • Develop and curate content tailored for diverse and underserved communities’ financial health needs from ideation through implementation; partner to refine the broader financial wellness learning agenda to reflect diverse and underserved stakeholder needs; serve as liaison to NYL’s Cultural Markets and Agency Training teams to facilitate awareness and adoption.
  • Co-develop NYL’s financial wellness user (employer, employee and broker) experience; develop a strategy that successfully weaves vendor, partner and NYL capabilities together, ladders from need to solution to outcome, and helps optimize positioning to materially drive engagement among diverse and underserved communities.
  • Consult with employers and brokers to help customize employee engagement; maximize the value of employer sponsored benefits for diverse and underserved communities; work across the Financial Wellness, Group Benefits and Marketing organizations to facilitate deployment; develop and maintain an ideas backlog to fuel innovation; co-create test & learn scenarios for use in market with the potential to scale pending results; co-develop KPIs.
  • Engage with industry groups, not-for-profits and trades as an SME where applicable; represent NYL’s interests and point of view on financial wellness in-market where applicable; help generate awareness, engagement and advocacy for NYL’s financial wellness capability.
  • Work with a small, dynamic and high-performing team to engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization effectively.

  • Is well-versed in diverse and underserved communities’ financial health needs; able to map unmet needs to education and solutions that help materially improve financial health outcomes for individuals and organizations; able to successfully frame the role of human advice and guidance in a lifelong financial wellness journey (self and family/family of choice).
  • Skilled at making complex concepts simple; able to work effectively in multiple media and forums to successfully convey concepts and frame execution paths.
  • Is a demonstrated systems thinker; able to quickly think through implications and adapt positioning for a wide array of users and audiences; able to toggle between strategic considerations and tactical implications in real time.
  • Is a strong connector (people, concepts, applications); able to translate complex concepts simply and distill key features into benefits that bring “what’s in it for me” to life for an array of internal and external stakeholders.


Leadership support: 


  • Partner across NYL (Foundational Business and Group Benefits Solutions) to co-develop a holistic engagement strategy and tactical execution plan that reinforces the value of group benefits while optimizing engagement and use of financial wellness capabilities (internal NYL, vendor and partner) in a cohesive and compelling way; unpack moments that matter including, but not limited to new employee onboarding, open enrollment and key life events.  
  • Bridge between related functions (e.g., Foundation, Ventures, Group and Individual Product, Cultural Markets, Agency, Marketing) to ensure translation of insights into actionable outcomes and product features into benefits that resonate with diverse and underserved markets/stakeholders.
  • Serve as an SME and communications consultant in the group marketplace; amplify leadership’s ability to drive awareness and meaningful engagement with NYL’s Financial Wellness capability; increase consideration of and affinity for our offering.
  • Support content development driven by key constituencies including, but not limited to Group Benefits Solutions, Foundational Business Product, Marketing, Cultural Markets, Agency, NYL Ventures and NYL Foundation.


You are a strong fit for this role if you have:

  • 7+ years of integrated marketing communications experience in the group, retirement and/or financial wellness space (communications consulting experience with hands-on plan benefit design or custom marketing engagement work a strong plus).
  • 5+ years of experience in the group benefits, retirement plan and/or benefits consulting space (financial services experience a strong plus).
  • Exceptional communications and presentation skills (content development, delivery, public speaking); ability to interact successfully with leaders at all levels.
  • Agile, self-starter with excellent time management skills and the ability to meet multiple deadlines while navigating the ambiguity of a dynamic work environment.
  • Collaborative work style and leadership presence with the ability to effectively interact and earn the trust of colleagues and senior management across the organization.
