New York Life is hiring a Corporate Vice President, Financial Wellness Thought Leadership, to drive awareness and consideration of NYL and reinforce our holistic approach to Financial Wellness in market.


The ideal candidate will have a firm understanding of the group insurance, retirement and/or financial wellness marketplace. He/She/They will possess superior research and content development skills with demonstrated success deriving and driving actionable insights from both syndicated and proprietary research, and successfully shepherding work from ideation through market deployment.


Role Description:


Strategic execution:

  • Develop and lead proprietary financial wellness thought leadership from ideation, through execution and interpretation of results; help refine the learning agenda
  • Cultivate, curate and distill actionable insights from syndicated work on stakeholders’ financial wellness needs, trends and providers/vendors
  • Establish and own an editorial calendar for financial wellness learnings; regularly publish actionable insights with clear implications for solutions, partnership opportunities and engagement models (digital and human-led)
  • Build/Facilitate content development (infographics, case studies, white papers, etc.); partner to help drive content consumption internally and externally
  • Engage with industry groups, not-for-profits and trades as an SME; represent NYL’s interests and point of view on financial wellness in-market; help generate awareness, engagement and advocacy for NYL’s financial wellness capability
  • Work with a small, dynamic and high-performing team to engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization effectively


Organizational and Operating Discipline:

  • Is a strong connector (ideas, needs, people); leverage analogous trends, insights and information to identify new opportunities; help create consistency between NYL’s financial wellness strategy and the research we support in-market
  • Work effectively to translate SME in the group benefits space with plans, prospects, brokers/intermediaries/consultants and consumers to engender better understanding of financial wellness and enhance NYL’s market presence; help differentiate through a holistic approach to thought leadership that ties directly into our protect and prosper philosophy; reinforce the role of agents in improving individual and organizational financial health
  • Proven ability to distil complex data clearly and effectively through a range of formats (in-person, electronic, rich media, etc.)


Leadership support:

  • Bridge between related functions (e.g., Foundation, Ventures, Group and Individual Product, Agency, Marketing) to ensure continuity of insights derived from proprietary thought leadership and distillation of syndicated content into actionable insights
  • Serve as an SME and spokesperson; amplify leadership’s ability to drive awareness and meaningful engagement with NYL’s financial wellness capability
  • Support content development driven by key constituencies including, but not limited to Communications, Marketing, Learning and Development and Agency


You are a strong fit for this role if you have:

  • 7+ years of experience in the group benefits, retirement plan and/or benefits consulting space (financial services, consulting experience a strong plus)
  • 5+ years of consumer/market insights, thought leadership and/or program management in the group, retirement and/or financial wellness space
  • Exceptional communications and presentation skills (content development, delivery, public speaking); ability to interact successfully with leaders at all levels
  • Agile, self-starter with excellent time management skills and the ability to meet multiple deadlines while navigating the ambiguity of a dynamic work environment
  • Collaborative work style and leadership presence with the ability to effectively interact and earn the trust of colleagues and senior management across the organization
