New York Life is hiring a Corporate Vice President, Financial Wellness Vendor Product Owner, to manage vendor/partner relationships, reporting and issues resolution for key stakeholders including NYL’s group benefits business, employers and employees, agency and the general public.


The ideal candidate will have prior experience sourcing, contracting and/or managing financial wellness, group insurance and/or investment services vendors. He/She/They will bring best practices in monitoring market developments around benefit expectations, plan design and other competitive trends; establishing reporting to support usage and facilitate measuring outcomes; partnering with leadership to ensure the financial wellness capability roadmap accurately reflects vendor enhancements; resolving complex stakeholder service/experience issues.


Role Description:

Strategic execution:

  • Lead financial wellness vendor/capability sourcing; drive due diligence; partner to successfully negotiate and renew contracts; ensure data exchange necessary to facilitate reporting and outcomes measurement; manage costs and help evaluate and potentially facilitate revenue sharing.
  • Serve as the primary account manager for Financial Wellness vendors for internal and external stakeholders (e.g., employees, employers and brokers); manage and mitigate customer service, experience and reporting issues; help drive meaningful adoption and engagement with vendor deliverables in the context of the broader financial wellness capability and experience.
  • Monitor the marketplace; ensure NYL’s stable of vendors/partners provides best-in-class capabilities; ensure vendor/partner enhancements are anticipated and informed by NYL’s priorities; align with NYL’s holistic financial wellness roadmap.
  • Co-develop success metrics, reporting and measurement of outcomes; materially support improvements in individual and organizational financial health.  
  • Work with a small, dynamic and high-performing team to engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization effectively.


Organizational and Operating Discipline:

  • Is well-versed in unmet consumer, employer and broker needs and can quickly translate how fulfilling that need (e.g., paying down debt) can allow an individual to redeploy savings towards additional life and financial goals (e.g., redeploying funds formerly put towards debt to help build emergency savings).
  • Is a strong connector (people, concepts, applications); able to translate complex concepts simply and distill key features into benefits that bring “what’s in it for me” to life for an array of stakeholders.
  • Is a demonstrated systems thinker; able to quickly think through implications and adapt positioning for a wide array of users and audiences.
  • Is able to toggle between strategic considerations and tactical implications, helping to deliver the approach and execute to create specific deliverables.


Leadership support:

  • Partner across NYL (Foundational Business and Group Benefits Solutions) to co-develop a holistic approach to building partnerships and establishing a strategic bench of vendors to supplement NYL’s current portfolio.
  • Shape vendor/partner capability and experience roadmaps in ways that complement NYL’s Financial Wellness capability; ensure alignment against key business outcomes (e.g., new sales, stickiness).
  • Implement feedback mechanisms for tracking, reporting and enhancement; keep stakeholders proactively apprised.
  • Anticipate stakeholder enablers and service/experience issues; work across the organization to mitigate issues/facilitate resolution; manage and enforce SLAs.


You are a strong fit for this role if you have:

  • 7+ years of experience in the financial wellness, group benefits, insurance, retirement and/or benefits consulting space (financial services a strong plus)
  • 5+ years sourcing and contracting innovative benefits partnerships and/or vendor solutions (financial services or financial wellness experience a strong plus)
  • Exceptional communications and presentation skills (content development, delivery, public speaking); ability to interact successfully with leaders at all levels
  • Agile, self-starter with excellent time management skills and the ability to meet multiple deadlines while navigating the ambiguity of a dynamic work environment
  • Collaborative work style and leadership presence coupled with the ability to effectively interact and earn the trust of colleagues and senior management across the organization
