The product manager is tasked with creating and prioritizing the epics and features necessary to initially, bring retail life products and minimum viable experiences to market on the new platform and then scale and deliver industry-leading components and service experience in the future.  This leader will work closely with the VP, Core Modernization, PAS technical lead, release train engineer, business leads and PAS program manager to achieve success.
 

This role will be responsible for the leadership, coaching and development of agile product owners who are tasked with ensuring user stories are well defined and understood; that acceptance criteria is thought-out and represents the scope of the story and provides incremental value for the customer. The product owner is accountable for maintaining and prioritizing the backlog, conducting user acceptance tests (UAT) and accepting work that meets the desired outcome for the business stakeholders and/or customer.
 

As the primary strategic execution leader of the Core Modernization team, the Product Manager for Policy Administration System (PAS) is responsible for maximizing the value of our policy administration platform for our Retail Life products.  The chosen product manager is expected to establish and maintain relationships outside the Core Modernization team, including Retail Life product team, our Service and Purchasing value streams, our technology solutions and Agency partners, vendors, and engage with various stakeholders to seek clarity and validate business requirements/acceptance criteria.  


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the preparation and participation in Program Increment (PI) Planning.
  • Responsible for roadmap, feature development and backlog prioritization that demonstrates value-based decision-making.
  • Accountable for the health and readiness of the team backlog
  • Manages and prioritizes the flow of work through program Kanban.
  • Ensure user stories are built with clear user value and thorough acceptance criteria.
  • Conducts user acceptance tests, accepts work and confirms team delivers the expected outcomes / value.
  • Understands enabler work and collaborates with product analysts and engineers to define and prioritize effectively in the backlog.
  • Integrates usability studies, research, and market analysis in product solutions to enhance user satisfaction.
  • Analyzes metrics and analytics to make data informed decisions.
  • Keeps pulse on the customers, anticipates bottlenecks, makes tradeoffs, and takes acceptable risks to maximize the benefit for our customer and business.
  •  Establish and maintain relationships outside the Core Modernization team
  •  Engage with various stakeholders to seek clarity and validate business requirements/acceptance criteria.  
  •  Experience in delivering large platform deliveries in an insurance company
  •  Understand how an insurance company builds value into an insurance product, distributes it, and administers that promise over its lifetime, is key to the strategic and tactical value conversations that this role requires.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10+ year of progressive experience in providing business analysis in individual life, annuity, and health or property and casualty insurance, financial services, technology delivery, or other related fields.
  • Must excel working in team-oriented roles that rely on ability to collaborate with others.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Information Technology or a related field. 5+ years’ experience in scaled Agile delivery preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to communicate with a wide range of team members and job functions-all the way up to executives,
  • Experience with hypothesis-driven learning and turning data into actionable insights

 

 

Salary range: $145,000-$215,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No
