POSITION SUMMARY                    

Looking for a highly motivated leader to join the New York Life Risk Management department as the Anti-Fraud Risk Manager.  The individual in this role will have an exciting opportunity to build and enhance the anti-fraud program, with focus on strategy, control analysis, and trend analysis.  In this capacity, you will collaborate with the First, Second, and Third Lines of Defense throughout the Company.   

 

This position requires excellent organizational and communication skills.  The candidate will apply a high energy level and combination of business and risk management mindsets to work and communicate with key stakeholders across the Company.  The ideal candidate will be a passionate self-starter and team player.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and enhance the anti-fraud program within Risk Management, with focus on strategy, control analysis, and trend analysis
    • Develop enterprise-wide strategies, processes, and frameworks to identify and mitigate fraud risk
    • Establish NYL fraud risk assessment process to proactively review controls for effectiveness
    • Assist the business areas in developing and utilizing data analytics to prevent, identify and/or mitigate fraud
  • Collaborate with the Special Investigations Unit, Business Units, Risk Officers, Compliance, OGC and Technology in all fraud related efforts
  • Lead information sharing and best practices across NYL fraud programs to help identify, measure, mitigate and monitor fraud risk across all business areas consistent within NYL’s risk appetite
  • Coordinate and enhance enterprise-wide fraud risk training and education
  • Identify and escalate key items of concern regarding fraud or potential fraud
  • Develop fraud metrics and provide NYL fraud reporting for management and applicable risk committees
  • Be apprised of industry standards and trends to build fraud risk strategies
  • Interact with other companies to help develop fraud sharing and best practices in consortiums or bilaterally
  • Institute an effective governance model to provide ongoing monitoring and oversight to optimize efficiency and effectiveness of Anti-Fraud Risk Management functions
  • Provide advice and guidance to Incident Response teams
  • Cyber fraud is not main focus, but will need to coordinate with the CISO and information security team and technology teams

 

Qualifications:

 

  • 10 years minimum of related experience within insurance or banking industry
  • Excellent executive and senior management level communicator
  • Broad and deep Fraud risk technical knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of data analytics
  • Strong people management, internal consulting, and partnering skills
  • Ability to influence with or without authority to achieve desired outcomes
  • Balance and successfully manage competing priorities

Salary range: $145,000-$215,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
