This position supports the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Center (DE&I Center). Reporting to the Vice President of the DE&I Center, the Corporate Vice President will provide strategic direction for our Employee Resource Groups. 

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the program manager of the Company’s seven Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and liaison between the DE&I Center and the ERGs, including:
    • Providing strategic direction and guidance to the ERGs
    • Planning and executing the ERG co-chair annual orientation
    • Reviewing all ERG business plans to ensure alignment to the core pillars for ERGs: Awareness and Advocacy, Professional Development, Community Outreach and Talent Acquisition
    • Meeting regularly with ERG co-chairs, attending ERG leadership meetings, and providing DE&I support, advice, trainings, and ongoing guidance
    • Reviewing ERG content for newsletters, emails and surveys
    • Reviewing ERG contracts for events and speakers, and coordinating with Legal and ERG Leads
    • Maintaining ERG calendar for upcoming events
    • Maintaining ERG Handbook and updating as needed
    • Coordinating new co-chair, core team and site lead process
    • Working with Corporate Communications on any communications regarding ERG members or events
    • Ensuring alignment with DE&I Center mission, making recommendations, and raising issues as appropriate
  • Assist with the design of the annual diversity campaign
  • Assist with the ongoing activity related to 'Coming Together', New York Life’s courageous conversations program, particularly for ERG partnered programs
  • Monitor internal and external trends in support of our ERGs
  • Manage external partnerships to build the New York Life brand and to provide development and networking opportunities for New York Life’s employees

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of work experience, including work in diversity & inclusion
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, as well as presentation skills, with ability to communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong creative ability to ensure visually appealing materials and communications
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to meeting deadlines
  • Self-starter with proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability and desire to coach and develop other professionals
  • Sound judgment, strong problem solving and decision-making skills, and high ethical standards
  • Ability to influence without authority
