The Corporate Vice President – Development Consultant is a member of the dynamic DE&I Center for Awareness and Advocacy team and supports employees across New York Life in driving their personal and professional development and growth.  The Development Consultant works one-on-one with diverse employees to provide coaching and career guidance, unlocking their full potential to become their best personal and professional selves.  Working closely with managers, the Development Consultant helps managers grow their diverse teams and foster New York Life’s inclusive culture.  The Development Consultant also designs and delivers company-wide programs to build employees’ networks, strengthen skillsets, and maximize impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consultative services to employees to help them identify their personal goals and thrive in their career, including:
    • conduct talent assessments to identify areas of interest, work styles, strengths, development opportunities, etc.,
    • manage 360 reviews,
    • analyze and debrief assessments and 360s with employees,
    • work closely with employees and their managers to guide the creation of data-driven individual development plans leveraging internal and external resources.
  • Support managers in developing diverse talent through advancing managers’ coaching, career guidance, and inclusion skills with a focus on employee growth. 
  • Design and deliver formal networking programs to connect employees across levels, business areas, and locations. 
  • Design and facilitate training programs to support employees’ development.
  • Act as a career coach to individuals and cohorts engaging in our career programs and services. 
  • Act as an advocate and work closely with HR business partners and department heads to identify opportunities for diverse employees.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with specialized coursework in HR, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Organizational Development, Organizational Behavior, or related disciplines.
  • 7 plus years of applicable career counseling, coaching, and development experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to design learning programs.
  • Demonstrated interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including strong presentation and facilitation skills with ability to communicate with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated organization, problem solving and decision-making skills with proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, and relationship building skills.
  • Certification in personal growth or psychometric assessments is desirable, e.g., Clifton Strengths.
