The Corporate Vice President, Employee Relations will join a team responsible for providing guidance on and directly handling employee relations matters with a focus on balancing business need and organizational risk, assisting in the design of employee related policies that are compliant with the law and align to best practices, managing complaints, and cultivating a positive and productive work environment. In addition, the team provides support to the Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs) in issues involving employee complaints, leaves and accommodations, discipline, terminations, and job eliminations. 


Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:


  • Provide consultative expertise on employee relations matters, with focus on complex or high-risk matters.  
  • Respond to and investigate employee complaints submitted directly to HR or through the Company’s Ethics Hotline. 
  • Partner with Leave Coordinators and HRBPs on leaves and accommodations issues. 
  • Work with HRBPs and Legal department on discipline and termination issues. 
  • Calculate severance payments for job eliminations and work with Legal and Benefits to prepare packages for notification discussions.   
  • Design and enhance employee related policies that are compliant with federal, state and local laws. Stay abreast of all relevant changes to such laws and ensure the Employee Handbook is updated as needed. 
  • Drive usage and effectiveness of our ER case management tool., including ensuring cases are entered in a timely manner, preparing quarterly reports for compliance, training the HRBPs on the system and managing the relationship with the vendor. 
  • Act as key point person to respond to policy questions, provide clarification on ER processes, and communicate policy updates to the appropriate audience.
  • Assist with the development and facilitation of ER-related training.
  • Handle special projects as needed.


Required qualifications

  • Strong knowledge and facility for interpreting and communicating employment laws and HR policy
  • Strong investigative skills
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify and respond to needs/issues quickly 
  • Detail oriented with very strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as a valuable partner and trusted advisor to all levels of management
  • Strong relationship building and influencing skills and collaborative style
  • Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and competing deadlines


Ideal candidates should have:

  • At least 10 years of experience working in Employee Relations or commensurate law firm/legal experience
  • Strong knowledge of employment law (EEO, FMLA, ADA, etc.)
  • Strong background in investigations, with an emphasis on investigations of workplace complaints preferred.
  • Experience developing and writing HR policy
  • Bachelor’s degree required, J.D. and/or Masters strongly preferred
  • Strong PC skills, including Excel and PowerPoint






Salary range: $145,000-$215,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No
