Reporting to the Head of the AI Center of Excellence, this role will be key in driving advanced machine learning and generative AI solutions for real-world business challenges. You will collaborate across teams, serving as a point of reference on AI-related matters, techniques, and innovations, and work closely with data science leaders, businesses, and technology.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to our CEO's vision of making the company an industry leader in generative AI and advanced analytics. While generative AI will be a major focus, expertise in a wide range of machine learning and advanced data science methodologies is essential.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and support the growth of generative AI and advanced machine learning practices across the AI & Data organization. This includes:
  • Leading use case development and stakeholder management across various business units.
  • Influencing infrastructure, tooling (in partnership with ML Ops and IT), and stakeholder education.
  • Overseeing governance in collaboration with the Model Governance and Legal teams.
  • Manage stakeholders throughout solution design and execution phases to successfully create and deploy advanced AI solutions.
  • Lead data analysis and modeling projects end-to-end:
  • From project design, stakeholder engagement, data processing, and analysis to presenting final reports and supporting implementation.
  • Demonstrate the value of advanced analytics and AI techniques to stakeholders, providing technical consulting and strategic guidance.
  • Utilize machine learning and AI techniques to develop high-performance models that address business objectives.
  • Collaborate with technology and ML Ops teams to deploy models into production. Design performance metrics and use data visualization tools to monitor model results.
  • Apply data wrangling techniques and work with various programming languages to prepare and analyze diverse data sources. Deploy these analytical solutions into production environments.
  • Partner with business, IT, Legal, and other teams to design and implement innovative AI solutions that drive business results.
  • Advocate for data-driven decision-making and analytics within the organization.
  • Stay informed about AI trends, particularly those that may impact the business, and communicate these developments to the team.

  • Work collaboratively across AI & Data, product managers, and other teams.
  • Support internal initiatives such as events, expos, and learning sessions with presentations and displays.
  • Stay current on industry trends, including legislative and regulatory developments affecting AI in underwriting. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Mentor junior team members.
  • Travel for events and vendor meetings (up to 5%).

  • 4+ years of experience in predictive analytics and machine learning using large, complex datasets.
  • Strong hand-on expertise in parametric statistical modeling techniques (e.g., linear regression, GLM, survival analysis) and non-parametric techniques (e.g., GBM, neural networks, NLP).
  • Proficiency in regularization techniques, feature engineering, validation methods, and performance metrics.
  • Extensive experience with NLP and large language models, including transformers.
  • 2+ years of experience in developing and deploying generative AI solutions, including training, fine-tuning, and prompt engineering.
  • Experience with information retrieval, reinforcement learning, and recommender systems (preferred but not required).
