Corporate Vice President - Technology Solutions Lead

Role Overview:
We are currently seeking a Technology Solutions Lead within the New York Life Corporate Finance Technology function to guide both onshore and offshore development teams to deliver scalable, high-performance applications on our NYL cloud platform. This includes working with other teams to reimagine, design and build the next generation of Insurance solutions in the cloud leveraging nascent and modern technologies and platforms including AWS and Azure cloud, APIs, and AI. You will be responsible for the design, development and deployment of optimal data integration pipelines taking advantage of leading-edge technologies through experimentation and iterative refinement. You will also be responsible for the evaluation of existing data Integration architecture, evolve and enhance the foundation, participate in product ideation and technology stack evaluation and recommendations. Proficiency in Agile methodologies and experience leading cross-functional teams are critical for success in this role.
What You’ll Do:
- Support a team of developers and engineers managing the Corporate Finance cloud platform and integrated vendor solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to the corporate finance engineering team, setting best practices for development, testing, and documentation of data workflows.
- Work closely with the Business Stakeholders, Business Analyst, Data Architects to review business requirements, understand business processes, data entities, data producers, consumers, and the data dependencies between various departments.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, data scientists, and analysts to gather requirements, understand business processes, and deliver data solutions that meet strategic objectives.
- Function as a bridge between technical and business audiences during solution planning, development, and deployment.
- Understand Onsite & Offshore models and lead the teams (BA, DM, ETL, QA). Own end-to-end delivery of all the efforts & projects.
- Create reliable solution plans that include cost estimates and optimized delivery approaches by working with the business and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ensure that the data architecture supports the organization’s data governance framework, promoting data quality, integrity, and regulatory compliance.
- Manage and optimize data warehousing solutions, particularly in Redshift. Ensure efficient data storage, retrieval, and manipulation.
- Oversee the automation of data processes within the AWS cloud environment utilizing ETL integration tools and services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, and Redshift for data storage and processing.
- Implement and enforce data governance practices. Ensure data integrity, quality, and security across all data processes.
What You’ll Bring:
Required Skills:
- Ten or more years of experience in enterprise-level delivery of IT solutions, including stakeholder management.
- Five or more years of experience in data engineering, Data Integration,
- Five or more years in a leadership role managing multiple work streams of IT technical delivery through close coordination with Business Leads / Product Managers
- Strong experience managing staffing, identifying resource gaps, and contention issues, including internal employees and vendor resources/consultants.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with assessing requirements for completeness and accuracy.
- Strong knowledge of AWS Cloud technologies, especially database technology such as Redshift/Snowflake, professional certifications in AWS a plus
- Strong knowledge of database design and SQL, including relational and dimensional models
- Strong Oracle/MSSQL, UNIX and Windows experience.
- Strong knowledge of integration frameworks for complex warehouses/data marts with ability to identify, recommend, and implement ETL processes and architecture improvements.
- Proven experience in ETL/ELT tools DataStage, IDMC, DBT, AWS Glue.
- Hands-on development mentality, with a willingness to troubleshoot and solve complex problems.
Preferred Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Certification in data management (structure and unstructured), and/or cloud architecture or engineering a plus
- Certification in delivery methodologies such as Scaled Agile a plus.
- Financial industry knowledge, including insurance.
- Experience in Data Analytics and reporting
- Understanding of Financial or Actuarial Modelling a plus.
Pay Transparency
Salary Range: $122,500-$210,000
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Sales bonus eligible: No
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
