Job Responsibilities:

We are currently seeking a qualified candidate to join the Product Management team, within New York Life Investments (“NYLIM”). The candidate will be responsible for managing a suite of fixed income products across MainStay Investments and IndexIQ including mutual funds, ETFs and SMAs.  The candidate is required to possess strong investment acumen and industry knowledge, mutual fund and ETF experience, robust analytical, communications and salesmanship skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects.  The position will be based in our headquarters in New York City.

 

Product Managers serve as advocate for their dedicated strategies, proactively driving growth and retention efforts across distribution channels. Working in collaboration across NYLIM, the Product Manager supports the product line through a broad range of investment, marketing and sales-related responsibilities which include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Positioning and differentiating strategies within the retail product line
  • Conducting competitive analysis to position products relative to key competitors, highlighting key similarities/differences
  • Working in collaboration with investment management teams, communicating timely product positioning ideas, themes, and insights internally to sales teams, and externally to investment professionals
  • Researching and communicating the effect of external factors – such as company-specific, market or economic developments – on their assigned strategies
  • Providing in-field product support to communicate to investment professionals latest product positioning ideas, key product features and benefits, and portfolio implementation suggestions
  • Ongoing collaboration with marketing team to develop product marketing materials including investment strategy presentations, investment insight articles, and timely sales ideas
  • Researching industry trends to identify products to promote, enhance, rationalize, and launch
  • Influence positioning, pricing, and product enhancement across the fund and ETF platforms

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience required; MBA and/or CFA Charterholder (or level 2) strongly preferred
  • Series 6 or Series 7 licensed
  • At least five years of related experience in the asset management industry, preferably in product management, sales or research roles
  • Broad investment management and financial market knowledge across equities, fixed income, multi-asset and alternatives
  • Excellent written, analytical and presentation skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively to achieve team objectives
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and complete projects on a timely basis
  • Strong PC skills, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.  Proficiency with industry analytics tools, such as Bloomberg, Morningstar, FactSet, etc.
