Director, AI Product Manager
Location Designation: Hybrid - 3 days per week
New York Life Investment Management ($800B+ AUM) is building AI and data science capabilities for our Real Estate Investors (REI) group, and we’re hiring a senior product leader to drive it.
You will report to the Head of AI & Data Science and partner directly with the Head of Real Estate Intelligence and senior REI business leaders to define AI strategy, identify high-value opportunities, and lead 0-to-1 delivery of products that transform how the team sources, underwrites, manages, and monitors real estate investments.
The mandate is to transform a document-heavy, judgment-intensive workflow that is uniquely well-suited to modern LLM, RAG, and agentic AI applications. You will own what gets built, how it gets adopted, and how impact is measured, with executive sponsorship, direct access to end users, and a clear initial use case to anchor the work.
What you’ll do
- Define and own AI product strategy and roadmap for REI, aligned with investment priorities and the broader technology agenda.
- Partner with investment teams and senior leadership to identify high-value AI opportunities and translate them into product concepts, requirements, and delivery plans.
- Lead 0-to-1 development of AI products end-to-end: discovery, MVP, pilot, launch, iteration, and scaled adoption.
- Serve as the primary bridge between business stakeholders, AI/ML engineers, data teams, and technology partners.
- Own product outcomes, including adoption, workflow impact, efficiency gains, and decision quality.
- Establish success metrics, adoption goals, and impact measures; ensure AI outputs are useful, reliable, and appropriate for business-critical decisions.
- Champion practical use of LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows, and human-in-the-loop patterns, and the discipline to know when not to use them.
- Drive change management and stakeholder communication; present strategy, roadmap progress, and measurable impact to senior leadership.
What you’ll bring
- 8+ years of experience in product management, product strategy, or technology delivery, with meaningful exposure to AI, data, or advanced analytics initiatives.
- Track record of taking products from concept through launch and adoption in complex enterprise or financial services environments.
- Demonstrated ability to work directly with senior stakeholders to define strategy, influence priorities, and drive execution.
- Strong business orientation: ability to work with subject matter experts, understand workflows, identify core pain points, and translate them into scalable product solutions.
- Working fluency in modern AI: LLMs, RAG, model evaluation, human feedback loops, and AI-enabled workflow automation.
- Strong judgment, comfort with ambiguity, and ability to drive alignment across technical and business teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain AI capabilities, limitations, and tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred experience
- Experience building or scaling AI, data, or workflow products in real estate, private equity, investment management, lending, or another document-heavy financial services domain.
- Familiarity with investment workflows, such as underwriting, deal evaluation, asset management, portfolio monitoring.
- Hands-on exposure to LLM-based products, RAG systems, agentic workflows, or human-in-the-loop review processes.
- Experience designing metadata, taxonomy, or retrieval-oriented information architecture for enterprise document repositories.
- Working knowledge of AWS or GCP, APIs, Python, and SQL.
- Master’s degree, MBA, or equivalent advanced professional experience.
