NYL REI is a leading capital provider in the real estate industry and is recognized as a top-tier commercial mortgage lender staffed by a team of highly experienced real estate professionals. The primary focus of the Loan Management team is to manage commercial real estate debt products, including core, bridge and construction loans secured by industrial, multi-family, retail, office, and hotel properties across the continental United States and Mexico.
What You'll Do:
The Director–Team Lead will oversee a small team of Asset Managers responsible for the day-to-day administration of a diverse commercial mortgage loan portfolio. This role requires deep expertise in commercial real estate credit, strong leadership in managing and developing asset management professionals, and a proven ability to design and execute process improvement initiatives that drive efficiency and accuracy across operations. The ideal candidate will also bring a commercial mindset, proactively identifying new business opportunities and strategies to enhance portfolio performance and increase revenues.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of analysts, building technical expertise and supporting professional growth.
- Ensure clear communication of transaction details and strict adherence to workflows, credit requirements, and quality controls.
- Collaborate with origination, legal, and senior leadership teams on loan administration and portfolio initiatives.
- Foster and maintain positive borrower relationships to support proactive issue resolution and business development opportunities.
- Design and implement best-practice processes and continuous improvement strategies to enhance efficiency, accuracy and consistency of reporting.
- Lead initiatives in process automation, workflow optimization, and data integrity.
- Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of loan data across internal systems to support decision-making and reporting.
- Contribute to firmwide strategic initiatives by identifying and implementing best practices across the asset management function.
- Recommend innovative approaches to optimize asset performance and develop strategies that drive new business and revenue growth.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in real estate, finance, economics, accounting, or a related business discipline with an investment concentration.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in the commercial real estate industry within a lending, servicing, or asset management platform.
- Proven experience motivating, developing and coordinating high-performing teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively engage internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Hands-on experience with loan asset management systems, including Precision Loan Management (PLM), Built and other end-to-end platforms for commercial real estate investment and financial management.
- Extensive expertise in interpreting complex loan documents and managing construction loan budgets.
- Ability to work effectively across teams and with senior management, with exceptional attention to detail and analytical capability.
- Superior organizational and project management skills, with the capacity to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Pay Transparency
Salary Range: $140,000-$165,000
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Sales bonus eligible: No
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
