Position Overview

The individual in this role will be a key member of the Retail Annuities Strategy team, which works closely with senior management to define and articulate business strategy, explore and drive growth and efficiency opportunities for the business, and support oversight and execution of strategic initiatives. This role is primarily focused on (1) leading and executing against key initiatives for the business and (2) expanding our product distribution capabilities by identifying and implementing various strategic partnership opportunities.

 

 

Role Description

 

Strategy, Initiatives, and Program Management

  • Research and analyze internal and external business drivers to uncover insights, develop and test new areas of opportunity, and build business plans to support overall vision and strategy of the Retail Annuities business
  • Drive iterative development of the long-term strategy and operating plans for NYL’s Retail Annuities business
  • Develop pragmatic solutions to key strategic and operational issues, develop and present recommendations to senior leadership, and play a key role in informing and influencing senior management decision making
  • Lead and program manage execution of key business initiatives by forming collaborative partnerships with colleagues across business and functional areas
  • Conduct comprehensive research on competitors and the broader annuity and retirement industry and develop and communicate unique perspectives on emerging trends

 

 

Business Development and Strategic Partnerships

  • Help define a multi-year view of the Retail Annuity distribution landscape and develop a model/framework for how to capitalize on new opportunities
  • Leverage prior experience to source, evaluate, and implement various opportunities to expand distribution of NYL’s Retail Annuity products, with a particular focus on strategic partnerships
  • Manage partner relationships to ensure implementation of opportunities identified (through proof-of-concept tests and pilot programs)

 

 

Desired Qualifications

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in roles requiring in-depth research and analysis, leading complex cross-functional initiatives, and building presentations for senior management
  • Desired backgrounds include management consulting, corporate strategy, business development, and/or strategic partnerships development
  • Experience in the financial services industry is a plus, but not required
  • Experience in vendor management is a plus, but not required
  • Strong analytical, communication (written and oral), and project and process management skills required
  • Proven ability to prioritize multiple assignments and multi-task
  • Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills required
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
