New York Life’s AI and Data team delivers innovative data, insights and AI solutions for the organization. Our AI team works on a diverse portfolio of AI and GenAI projects, by combining agile and entrepreneurial drive with industry-leading methods and tools. Our efforts are fully supported by executive leadership, and we work hand in hand with our Business Partners through all stages of model development from ideation to deployment. As it takes multiple skill sets to deliver AI models to production, our AI team includes product managers, data scientists, MLOps engineers, program managers, a model validation & governance group, and a communications & development group.

 

You will manage and mentor a team of MLOps (platform) engineers, who are responsible for building and maintaining a best-in-class AI/GenAI MLOps platform. The team is also responsible for model/solution promotion and support in production. You will help to build and maintain an industry leading MLOps tech stack.  

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a team of MLOps platform engineers in building out a greenfield MLOps platform
  • Function as a platform expert and help contribute to design and implementation decisions.
  • Manage and enforce Git standards.
  • Support all users in implementing efficient, secure and scalable CI/CD pipelines.
  • Implement architectural patterns for on-prem and cloud data/ML pipelines and solutions.
  • Build strong relationships and partner with technology (IT) stakeholders to address integration challenges and dependencies.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and be part of a collaborative team.
  • Establish mechanisms for platform, application and model support, to respond in a timely manner to issues and anomalies.
  • Work with Project Managers and Scrum Master's to create stories and provide milestones.
  • Effectively articulate information and ideas to a diverse group of people
  • Stay up to date with the latest MLOps trends/emerging technologies and look for opportunities to improve the stack.

 

Required qualifications.

  • 7+ years of industry experience with at least 3-years as a technical hands-on Manager
  • In-depth knowledge of MLOps principles, practices and methodologies
  • Proven experience in overseeing and optimizing MLOps platforms, including architecture design and infrastructure management.
  • Ability to lead and guide a team, make strategic decisions, and ensure the successful execution of MLOps initiatives.
  • Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS with a focus on managing scalable infrastructure..
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD and DevSecOps best practices
  • Experience working with data teams and automating ML and other data-intensive applications development workflows.
  • Hands on coding in Terraform, Helm, Bash, etc. to automate the provisioning and management of infrastructure
  • Excellent command of Git (branching strategies, security, Jenkins integration, PR process, etc.)
  • Expert level experience with containers (Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes)
  • Understanding of real-time and batch inference
  • Have an agile mindset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical information and collaborate with team members.
  • A commitment to staying updated on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in MLOps and related fields.
  • Graduate-level degree in computer science, engineering, or relevant work experience

 

Preferred: 

  • Understanding of ML frameworks (sklearn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.)
  • Experience working with big data cloud platforms (Redshift, Snowflake, etc.)
  • Architecture, design patterns, production scaling/optimization
  • Insurance industry experience

 

 

 

Salary range: $157,500-$237,500 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No
