Launched in 2012, New York Life Ventures is a leading strategic Corporate Venture Capital unit focused on exploring new technologies, investing in start-ups and impacting the pace of innovation and competitive advantage for New York Life. The unit is comprised of three highly interconnected functions: Venture Investments, Business Development, and Innovation Services.  Importantly, a well-developed trusted relationship network aids in sourcing high quality investment/partnership opportunities while informing business unit strategies for the broader New York Life organization.




Role Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and business unit leaders from different organizational areas on strategic projects to identify innovation opportunities and develop propositions that create business value
  • Facilitate the application of innovation methodologies with business teams to identify new opportunities to support New York Life strategies and goals
  • Communicating strategies and learnings through compelling narratives and visualizations
  • Creating and delivering immersive working sessions that engage and empower leaders to act
  • Facilitating conversations with client teams to identify and develop new opportunities for their organizations
  • Representing the human centered design discipline and its value to diversified internal audiences
  • Managing execution and logistics for various Innovation Services programs and events including:
    • Engagement / project plan development
    • Crafting and distributing clear communication
    • Creating and maintaining strong partnerships with internal and external partners
  • Establishing operational and financial innovation metrics to measure and track the health and progress of the innovation pipeline and appropriate resource allocation
  • Partnering throughout New York Life to help promote company-sponsored innovation and community-building events



  • 7-10 years of experience in roles with increasing responsibilities
  • Strong facilitation skills with experience leading or facilitating training sessions, workshops, brainstorm sessions, innovation sessions, etc. both virtual and in-person
  • Highly-motivated self-starter with strong attention to detail
  • English fluency (written and spoken)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across organizations and influence decision-making
  • Exceptional communication skills (presentation, written, discussion), especially in developing compelling presentations
  • Ideal candidate will be able to think outside the box and find innovative and creative solutions
  • Proficiency in human centered design across different mediums, strong story-telling skills, and the ability to communicate compelling user experiences
  • Expertise in the human centered design process; in particular for applying to strategic business initiatives
  • A passion for learning about the world, human behavior, and the motivations that lie beneath the surface
  • The ability to synthesize research into concrete recommendations and communicate them to business audiences
  • The ability to work in dynamic, often ambiguous conditions, both individually and in a team
  • A highly collaborative nature and a desire to work with those from other disciplines
  • Excellent design qualifications with experience in Innovation, Design Strategy, Service Design or other relevant industry
