New York Life Investments, part of a $700+ billion investment management organization is seeking a qualified Institutional Fixed Income Trader to join our Fixed Income Investors (FII) Group to manage the firms short term liquidity strategies and provide critical backup for mortgage product trading.  FII focuses on U.S. dollar-denominated debt in investment grade credit securities, high yield bonds, senior secured floating rate loans, mortgage-backed, asset-backed and other structured securities, treasuries, agencies, and money market instruments. 

What You’ll Do:

• Manage cash position for New York Life general account, mutual funds and 2(a)7 money market funds.
• Execute daily trading of commercial paper, money market instruments, repo, and short-term U.S. Treasury securities.
• Ensure accurate trade execution meeting investment objectives within the scope of guidelines.
• Monitor and share short term market insights, trends and liquidity to inform investment decisions.
• Collaborate with Portfolio Managers concerning investment strategies and results.
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with broker-dealer partners and trading counterparties.
• Provide backup trading coverage for Mortgage-Backed Securities, US Treasurys, and investment-grade corporate credit.

What you’ll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field; CFA or progress toward designation is a plus.
• 2–4 years of fixed income trading experience
• Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal teams and external partners.
• Proficiency with key investment tools and platforms, including Aladdin, Bloomberg, MarketAxess, Tradeweb and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Pay Transparency

Salary Range:  $80,000-$135,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No 

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
