Instructional Design & Communications Associate
Location Designation: Hybrid - 3 days per week
The Instructional Design & Communications Associate creates engaging, high-quality learning content and communications that build technical capability across New York Life’s Technology, Data & AI (TDAV) organization.
This role combines instructional design and communications — developing digital and instructor-led learning experiences tailored to technical audiences, while crafting clear, compelling messages that promote awareness and participation in TDAV learning programs.
What You’ll Do
Instructional Design (≈70%)

Design and develop learning materials such as eLearning modules, videos, slide decks, toolkits, and job aids that simplify complex technology, data, and AI concepts.

Apply instructional design principles and adult learning best practices to create engaging, accessible learning experiences for technical professionals.

Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) in engineering, data science, and AI to translate technical expertise into learner-friendly content.

Support content quality assurance, learner feedback, and continuous improvement across TDAV programs (e.g., Cloud Academy, Data Academy, onboarding).
Communications (≈30%)

Create and manage learning communications — including emails, newsletters, intranet articles, and visuals — that drive engagement with TDAV programs.

Develop messaging and campaigns that increase awareness, participation, and excitement about learning opportunities.

Highlight program outcomes, learner stories, and skill achievements to reinforce TDAV’s culture of continuous learning.

Ensure consistency in tone, branding, and messaging across all L&D communications.
What You’ll Bring

1–3 years of experience in instructional design, technical training, or corporate communications.
- Bachelors degree preferred.

Demonstrated experience designing or supporting learning for technology, data, or AI-related topics (preferred).

Strong writing, editing, and visual design skills with excellent attention to detail.

Experience with authoring and media tools such as Articulate, Rise, Canva, or Camtasia.

Familiarity with learning platforms (LMS/LXP) and adult learning principles.

Salary Range: $64,500-$90,000
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Sales bonus eligible: No
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
