This highly collaborative Senior Associate position within the Life Product Compliance team will be a Team Lead for on all efforts related to New Business Forms: application and related forms development, regulatory filing, systems implementation, and on-going compliance of forms. This role works directly with the Life Product Development and New Business teams within New York Life, to support new business initiatives and ongoing compliance matters.


The Senior Associate will collaborate with representatives from Life Product, Legal, Compliance, Government Affairs and various Technology teams within the Company. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively establish working relationships, think and act analytically and strategically, and influence others when required to effectively solve complex issues related to compliance.


The major responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Represent the Life Compliance Team on all applicable new business meetings, preparation of applications, supplements, disclosures and other required forms for filing with regulatory bodies and state insurance departments, and overall continued compliance of the new business forms
  • Work with and provide oversight to other team members in preparation of electronic regulatory filings through the SERFF electronic filing platform, monitor and track of all correspondence and respond to regulator correspondence
  • Prepare and provide the necessary forms to various new business workstreams throughout the company for implementation
  • Work with outside vendors for typesetting, printing, uploading and storage of forms, as necessary
  • Work on other compliance and drafting projects, as needed


Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years prior experience in life insurance compliance, preferably in drafting, research & filing  
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel and Abode
  • Strong analytical skills, and superior judgment in assessing and addressing any compliance risks in the drafting, filing and implementation of new business forms
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple work items and projects, work independently, as well as collaborate with others and follow through to completion
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and build relationships within and across various departments
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to tailor communication based on the intended audience
  • Ability to make decisions that have cross-function impact to compliance issues in collaboration with key stakeholders

Salary range: $90,000-$135,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
