Lead efforts to develop and enhance strategic relationships that expand our investment opportunity set and origination channels.  The position will be part of New York Life’s Office of the Chief Investment Officer. 

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Define the business development and strategic partnership strategy and drive execution to deliver impactful results
  • Identify and prioritize a portfolio of key existing and new partnership opportunities with the potential to accelerate our sourcing objectives that fit our investment strategy
  • Own the critical partnership process – including analysis of current relationships, identification of attractive partners based on commercial potential, cultivating relationships at pertinent organization levels, manage relationship coverage, etc
  • Ongoing coordination with internal investment and business teams to understand their strategy, resources, capabilities and goals to identify cross sourcing and specific investment opportunities
  • Build and maintain extensive network across banks, private equity sponsors and asset originators and maintain meaningful relationships to stay on top of key trends and industry developments
  • Proficiently communicate the value of working with New York Life to potential partners to support and expand our presence

 

The ideal candidate will have the following experience and qualifications:

  • Track record of delivering exceptional and measurable results across multiple partnerships
  • Extensive experience with developing actionable partnership strategies across fixed income and equity asset classes and overseeing existing activities
  • Strong knowledge of capital markets and transaction/deal structure management
  • Intellectual curiosity with a strong understanding of and passion for the finance industry and an ability to make thoughtful and timely observations to identify risks and opportunities
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to build business cases and analyze / model key economic drivers
  • A proven ability to think independently and critically analyze detailed and complex information
  • Ability to bring people together across investment teams in support of analyzing, reviewing and ultimately executing on opportunities
  • Ability to navigate and work effectively in a large, matrixed organization with multiple decision-makers and stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in finance or business); CFA, MBA, CAIA preferred

 

 

Salary range: $200,000 - $300,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No
