Insurance and protection-first investment solutions designed to meet the needs of businesses have become increasingly important as companies look for new and more innovative ways to support their employee’s financial security needs. As a B2B Marketing Strategist, you will be part of the New York Life Marketing organization and responsible for working with a cross-discipline team to elevate the role of New York Life for businesses and their employees. You will work closely with our business leads, research & insights specialists and product development teams. Your focus will be on designing and implementing New York Life’s strategic approach to small business owners and their employees, as well as to medium and large enterprise businesses through New York Life’s group insurance offering (a top 5 insurer across group life, accident, disability, and integrated leave solutions). Reaching these markets will require experience in marketing financial products and solutions to both SMB and Enterprise customers, leveraging the strength of financial advisors and agents, and marketing to third party distributors. This position will partner closely with Consumer Marketing Strategy to leverage New York Life’s segmentation, insights and legacy Career Agency system of 12,000+ agents and advisors.

 

This role works in close partnership with our Consumer Strategy team and requires strong collaboration and partnership skills.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build & inform marketing strategy and tactics including audience identification, positioning, messaging architecture, portfolio architecture and solutions roadmap development, focusing on SMB, medium and enterprise businesses.
  • Refine portfolio positioning in context of new, expanded solutions offering.
  • Support naming of New York Life business targeted solutions and development of cross-channel plans.
  • Bring an innovative mindset by leveraging knowledge of B2B purchase dynamics, emerging employee/consumer perspectives, and broader cultural context.
  • Partner with research and insights teams to source and evaluate data and see where/how to infuse and influence work being done across organization.
  • Provide B2B marketing thought leadership and contribute via consultative guidance.

 

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required; experience in financial services; MBA a plus.
  • 10+ years in marketing strategy, business strategy, portfolio management, and product positioning. Working experience with B2B; financial services and insurance a plus.
  • Strategic, entrepreneurial, analytical thinker with a proven ability to understand and impact business drivers through actionable recommendations.
  • Proven ability to influence without direct reporting relationships, across multiple levels of the organization.
  • Excellent written, oral communication and PowerPoint skills—especially building strategy and/or reader decks.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within and across business lines
