Role Overview
The Operations Associate supports the continued expansion of New York Life’s in-house Group Employee Benefits model within the Business Solutions Department (BSD). This role applies developing professional knowledge of Group Benefits products, underwriting processes, and operational procedures to support pre-sale, onboarding, compliance, and reporting activities.
The Associate analyzes case submissions, evaluates documentation for completeness and guideline alignment, and exercises judgment within established policies to support timely and accurate case processing. This position requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, apply discipline-specific knowledge, and collaborate effectively with underwriting, sales, and compliance partners.
The role operates with moderate supervision and contributes to the quality, timeliness, and effectiveness of the team’s operational deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Review Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for completeness and alignment with underwriting and product guidelines
- Identify missing information or discrepancies and coordinate resolution with agents and underwriting partners
- Apply approved pricing tools (e.g., CURT Rater) within established parameters
- Manage proposal data within Salesforce and Outsystems, ensuring accuracy and timely updates
- Transition cases from pre-sale to post-sale processing in accordance with established procedures
- Maintain accurate sales pipeline data and assist in preparing standard operational reports
- Analyze data discrepancies in commission uploads, check funding, and data validations and resolve using established processes
- Support tracking and documentation of key operational metrics
- Verify agent licensing, training, and regulatory requirements in accordance with established procedures
- Participate in quality reviews, access reviews, reconciliations, and audit preparation
- Escalate issues that fall outside established guidelines
- Identify workflow inefficiencies within day-to-day processes and suggest improvements within established frameworks
- Maintain procedure documentation, process guides, and reporting inventories
- Provide guidance to newer team members on operational procedures as appropriate.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 2–4 years of experience in Life Insurance, Employee Benefits, Financial Services, or related field.
- Working knowledge of Group Benefits products preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and CRM systems (Salesforce preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to analyze information and apply policies and procedures to resolve routine operational issues.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities with moderate supervision.

Pay Transparency
Salary Range: $65,000-$92,500
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Sales bonus eligible: No
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
