Planning Lead, Corporate Vice President
Location Designation: Hybrid - 3 days per week
Role Overview:
We are seeking a strategic, execution-minded Planning Lead (CVP) to manage portfolio orchestration across New York Life’s Field Experience (FX) value stream. Sitting within the centralized Cross FX Enablement function, this leader maintains a single, integrated roadmap that cleanly distinguishes committed delivery from discovery, updates it monthly for reality (progress, dependencies, risks), and produces leadership-ready views for portfolio reporting and decision making. The role partners closely with Product Managers to define and manage MBIs/Epics, apply sequencing guardrails, and ensure items entering PI planning are well-formed, capacity-aligned, and investment-aware.
This leader will manage a central demand intake and readiness discipline, triaging advisor/external requests, validating dependencies and funding, and driving consistent ingestion into PI planning with clear entry/exit criteria. In lockstep with Technology planning, Finance, and Governance, the Planning Lead aligns budget to roadmap, tracks investment vs. delivery monthly (including capacity costs), surfaces risks and trade-offs with options, and standardizes planning practices across Field Experience so teams execute consistently, predictably, and transparently.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in roadmapping, PI-based planning, portfolio/budget alignment, and dependency management in complex, matrixed environments combining analytical rigor with crisp executive communication. You’re adept at turning ambiguous demand into planning-ready artifacts, linking investment to outcomes, and leading through influence to keep the organization focused on value, feasibility, and flow.
What You’ll Do:

- Maintain and evolve the integrated Field Experience roadmap, ensuring clarity between committed work and discovery related efforts that may not be ready for delivery.
- Manage the roadmap through monthly updates reflecting actual delivery status, dependency changes, and risk signals.
- Create leadership-ready roadmap and delivery views as part of regular portfolio reporting.
- Partner with Product Managers to define and manage MBIs/epics mapping within various tools and sequencing guardrails.
Demand Intake & Planning Readiness
- Manage centralized demand intake process and triage to ensure agent/advisor & external product team requests are consistently captured, assessed, and routed to the appropriate product teams.
- Advocate for “voice of the customer” by bringing feedback and requests to the forefront of our planning process. Responsible for validating, working with product team in identifying dependencies and routing to appropriate teams.
- Ensure initiatives are clearly structured from funding to MBIs to epics readiness, with a consistent and well-documented approach to ingestion into PI planning.
- Drive readiness checks prior to PI planning, surfacing risks, dependencies, and early escalation gaps. Support in ensuring post PI commitments are reflected on various tools and roadmaps.
Budget Alignment & Investment Tracking
- Partner with Product Managers during the annual budgeting process to align roadmaps with approved investment levels.
- Track initiative and roadmap spend monthly, including delivery progress against budget and capacity costs. Work with Technology planning leads to enhance financial and portfolio risk reporting.
- Support leadership visibility into investment-to-value alignment across releases.

- Monitor delivery progress and variances, contributing to monthly and quarterly portfolio reporting.
- Escalate risks, funding misalignment, and delivery concerns with clear context and options.
- Support establishing overall product discipline to help standardize consistent practices across broader Field Experience Delivery function.
What You’ll Bring:
You bring portfolio orchestration, intake rigor helping maintain a single, leadership-ready roadmap that distinguishes committed delivery from discovery, triages demand with a clear voice-of-the-advisor lens, validates dependencies and funding, and ensures initiatives are PI-ready and sequenced to capacity with monthly, reality-based updates.
You also bring governance and communication excellence, helping link budgets to delivery outcomes, tracking investment, surfacing risks and options, and standardizing product planning practices across Field Experience so teams execute consistently, predictably, and transparently.
